Wow, I never read Funky Winkerbean, and I just read the past few weeks. Oh. My. God. That's how sad and touching is done, Lynn. That was very sweet and sad at the same time.

Am I the only one who has "Phantom of the Opera" music running through her head? No, and I'm so glad to know that I'm not alone either.

In the tradition of Foob's Coffee Talk, another lame comic strip has a blog now, Betty's Blog. (I don't know much about Archie comics, but I never liked Veronica, maybe because of her being rich and snooty. So I'm glad they went with Betty, probably more for alliteration than anything else though.) I wonder what comic strip will be the next one to start blogging. My money is on something lame as Cathy, unless that comic strip already has a blog, but I'd love to see more like maybe Mary Worth getting her own blog, even though it would be lame to but still a lot more interesting to follow than Cathy or maybe Rat or Pig could start a blog. Also, not an official blog, but I like to think that it of it as being one especially since Max Weber Jr. has been kind enough to actually design items to help raise money for the Comics Curmudgeon website, Reynard Noir, the Seedy Underworld of Slylock Fox.

I've been following Funky Winkerbean for years. I like the format of the new strip. It's definitely different to see a comic strip go in so many different directions, especially into the future. But I cannot stand the new Wes with his goatee.

Sunday's "Get Fuzzy", with Bucky and Mac's entrances in those costumes, is one of the most delightfully absurd things I've seen in a long time.

But I cannot stand the new Wes with his goatee. I don't mind Les' goatee, but I find it a little weird that of all the characters Funky has suddenly turned into a fat 60-year-old. ETA: The weekend "Get Fuzzy" was really funny, but man were those nipples on the costumes disturbing.

ETA: The weekend "Get Fuzzy" was really funny, but man were those nipples on the costumes disturbing. Yes, it was really delightful especially since to me the strip was getting somewhat stale with all the cow jokes. There was humor at first, but it was run into the ground. So I'm glad the strip moved onto something else, and for me even though others may feel it has run into the ground, I like all the strips lately of Satchel eating anything he can. The art especially makes me laugh like when he's got the cord hanging out of his mouth like a noodle. I just love when Conley adds touches like that instead of just verbal jokes, and to me the two funniest strips were the human costumes and the one with the sloth wearing the Canadien jersey becacuse the sight gags were so hilarious. Anyway, I just wanted to bump this up for two reasons. First, according to Comics Curmudgeon, tomorrow should be the day that Zits runs its controversial teen speak strip. At least prior to CC's hiatus over the Thanksgiving weekend, there was some debate whether it would be something mild and not really controversial at all like Jeremy using the word sucks, or maybe something like "WTF" if it's another strip on text messaging. Second, does anyone know why some of the comic strips at Yahoo! haven't been updated since last week?

I wish I knew. I usually go over to comics.com to get the missing ones from yahoo but even over there some of the Sunday strips still aren't up yet. And with Frazz you can only read today's on their front page, in the archive the latest one you can get is Saturday's. It's incredibly annoying.
