Aw. As a lifelong Blondie fan, I am loving the cheesiness of the 75th anniversary. I like that so many of the comics are involved and to go a step further I wish another 75 years for Blondie and Dagwood. Gah, I am such a sap. ;D

My favorite day in comics history was the day that everyone went out of their way to pay tribute to Charles Schulz. I think I still have the paper from that day.

I love Pearls Before Swine. I think it's the best strip in years. Pig is my favorite. He tries so hard and accomplishes absolutely nothing.
I have come to terms with the fact that I'm the only one on the planet who thinks Get Fuzzy is lame.
Strips that must die:
Adam @ Home. The guy spends more time on the computer than with his children, even though he's supposed to be a stay-at-home dad. Every time I see another strip with him on the computer for the 17th hour in a row, I want to call in child services.
Family Circus. I can't take any more of those creepy dead grandparents. Plus, the strip's "artist" can't draw to save his life.
FoxTrot: I hate this one because it can never think of it's own jokes. Everything revolves around Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. Get your own ideas! And literally every girl in this strip is a bimbo.

Loving grumpy grandpa Robert in Boondocks this week. Reminds me of my FIL and his attitude on needy relatives. Sad really.
Pickles is using a lame old joke today. I hate it when strips do that.

Oh no, a double post, but i t has been many moons.
Loved Non Sequitur today, ripping on Mr. Cruise.
I want a Sunday when every strip tears him up, from Mary Worth to Foxtrot.

I don't get the newspaper anymore, but I still miss reading Calvin and Hobbes. None of today's works come close in comparison.

I'm sorry to say that I hate Calvin and Hobbes. Maybe I just don't "get it," or maybe it's been used in one too many school assignments and classes. (You know, when the teacher photocopies the strip and puts it on an overheard or exam. It's not that freaking good that you need to show us strips that relate to the assignment.)

I loved "Calvin and Hobbes", but I think "Peanuts" is crap. I know it's the most beloved comic strip ever and all, but it's just not funny to me. To be fair, I bet it was a lot better back when it was newer (like fifty years ago).
On that note, why do newspapers keep running shitty strips that are still stick in the 1950s? "Blondie"-yuck. "Dennis the Menace"-puhleeze. (Hey, Mr. Wilson, get a damn lock for your front door, or call Dennis's parents and tell them he's harrassing you yet again, or do *something* if you hate the little twirp so much!)
Of course, my vote for the worst comic strip of all time goes to "B.C." I mean, caveman fundies? For serious? WTF?

See, I don't have a problem with the caveman funnies of yore... when it turned into the oftentimes-judgemental conserative Christian caveman funnies, then I called it the worst.
My father has old books from the strip's beginning and they were almost not so bad, actually. I liked them at the time, but the taint's there now.
I do love Calvin and Hobbes! One of my favourite gifts I've ever recieved was when my grandmother cut out the last strip from a newspaper and framed it... I think that one actually made me cry. That and Far Side (and FOOB, before it was... FOOB) are my favourites.

Pogo, Shoe, The Far Side, Doonesbury, Calvin and Hobbes and VERY early Garfield have always been my faves. (Yeah, Im a wee bit liberal ) My local paper doesn't print much beyond the Blondie/ Hagar/ BC/ Peanuts/ Family Circus stuff. I do enjoy Baby Blues in the way I used to enjoy the Foobs.
