Oh, God, Cathy makes me want to gag myself with a fork. It's just so dumb, and, sadly, SpinsterLiz's formula for it is dead on. We have a Cathy mug at home for some weird reason (no one likes the strip, so I'm almost positive it was a gift) and I think it says "Home is where the mess is." I may have made that up, but it has some lame thing on it like that. I almost brought it to school with me ironically, but I wasn't sure people would get it. Cathy is up there with Mallard Fillmore and Family Circus. There's a special place in hell for crappy comics like that. Oh, and Drabble. So stupid.

I used to like Cathy (in my defense, I was ten years old), until I realized that it was the same thing, year after year, and not even a good thing at that. It's like a compedium of cliches of relationships. Men are obsessed with sports and technology and have no emotions, women are emotional and shop incessantly, mothers never shut up about their daughters' marital status. God. Just don't buy a damn bathing suit if it's that traumatizing.

ACK! You all had to remind me that bathing suit season is coming up soon! I can just see it now.....
"Thank goodness I am now married, so it doesn't matter what suit I buy. Or does it? It doesn't. No, it does, I guess I'll call Mom and find out."

The storylines of Funky Winkerbean are so depressing they make me want to kill myself. And if a miracle takes place and something good does happen, it's negated by something horrible two weeks later. I'm sure the new school will burn down the night before it's supposed to open.

Oh god, no kidding. Drabble might actually be worse than Family Circus. HAAAATE. I can't even describe how terrible Drabble is.

I hate Family Circus, too. It used to depress the heck out of me when I was a kid. There was something so soulless about that flat, flat neighborhood where there weren't many trees and the houses were all the same bland model.
And I could never understand how the mother could be happy, constantly running around after all those small kids and having a husband with no eyes. Day in and day out, with just those brats who never grow up and living in that sad neighborhood. I suspect there's a circle in Hell a lot like the Family Circus life.

I think one of the worst strips ever is "Sally Forth." Everyone in that strip has one expression that never changes, and it's not funny or clever or anything. It's just flat and bland and pointless. Why does it keep running? I can't imagine anyone actually likes it. (I guess someone must. Hell, my brother says he loves "Fred Bassett"-but I think he's just being difficult.)
I still like "Mutts" even though it's gotten pretty stale. I can't help it-the drawings are so cute. I can forgive dull writing somewhat if the art is cute, just as I can forgive so-so art if the writing is clever. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of strips these days have so-so art and dull writing.
Speaking of which, am I the only one who's newspaper curses everyone by running "Adam"? It seems like a lot of people haven't heard of this strip. (Lucky bastards.) It's one of the worst in the world. All it is is, an ugly guy named Adam who is always drinking coffee and working at his computer. Every month or so, his kids turn up for a strip, and then it's back to Adam drinking coffee at his computer. Yeah, deadbeat dads sure are funny.

Speaking of which, am I the only one who's newspaper curses everyone by running Adam? The Toronto Star gets Adam. I agree, it's a terribly pathetic strip. I always wonder who actually likes Family Circus. Everyone I know thinks it's stupid, but it still runs, so SOMEBODY out there must think it's just HILARIOUS. I also wonder about the guy who writes it. I can't believe I'm asking this: Cathy got married? Was it to her male equivalent in stereotypicality, Irving?

And yes I know the Grandfather is dead but I like that they don't forget him. Soft spot for me as my grandfather was my favorite person in the world and I like to think he may be watching over me. So go ahead and give me shit for liking this cheesy comic. All I will say is at least it isn't FBOW. Now that is absolute garbage. ;D

I'm crazy because I have cut out Pearls Before Swine strips. Like the one where rat is giving away free sarcasm and has a short line then he asks someone at the end of a long line what he is waiting for, and the guy goes "Free Hugs" and the panel shows pig hugging a guy with his eyes closed in a booth under a sign that says "Hugs". I actually was so moved. Then my Mon accidently threw it away and I died. Get Fuzzy is hands down my favorite and Satchel just stole my heart. I just started reading FBOW because I wanted to know why it was so popular. Everyone seems so whiny. Kill them all I say. Here is the real question, - WHY IS MARMADUKE STILL RUNNING?!!!
