"Pearls Before Swine" is hilarious. I wore a black and white striped top the other day, and my husband kept calling me "Zeebah Naybah".

What's going on with Funky Winkerbean? Is he dead? Killing off Lisa was depressing enough! I'm getting an "It's Wonderful Life" vibe. There was a car crash so either he's dead or having a near death experience.

Looks like near death. The ambulance drivers told Funky (whose is on a gurney) that he will be all right. Wonder if they'll catch the teen texter who hit him?

Wonder if they'll catch the teen texter who hit him? How much you wanna bet the teen texter is his stepson's girlfriend?

I think the other driver is just a random person we'll never see again. And she wasn't texting, she was talking.

We can only hope they'll actually stop running it instead of chugging along with years and years of reruns. I'm looking at you, For Better or For Worse and Peanuts.

Ugh, my paper still runs Foob repeats and I can't. not. read it. They're at the time where Mike and Liz are about 5 and 2 and Elly's desperate single friends are all lusting after John's chauvinist pig friends.
John and Elly stayed in Ted's cottage for a week, while he house-sat for them. Naturally, Connie had to come over and lust over Ted. Yesterday, John and Ted were talking about her and John says, "You DO know she's liberated?"
Wha? Even in the height of the women's movement, women didn't declare themselves liberated - like freed slaves. "Are you liberated?" "Not yet, but I'm working on it." Weird writing, was that original to the strip?

Ack! (Sorry, had to be said.)
I'm kind of sad. I always loved that strip. It definitely stayed past its sell-by date, however. I think Guisewite made a mistake by having Cathy age in more-or-less real time. What was cute when Cathy was in her 20's and still pretty funny in her 30's got pathetic in her 40's.
