I think this was the scene where Anne flavored a cake with anodyne liniment. That's why Anne turns green when she tries her piece. Ah, okay. I forgot about that one (it's been longer since I've read then book than seen the TV movie, and that wasn't included in the movie).

It's funny because I've been rereading the Anne books this week, just completely out of the blue.

I've only now watched the trailer for the new adaptation (don't think it has aired anywhere yet, has it?) It looks very faithful to the first book, minus the lake accident which now seems to be set in winter time. New Gilbert looks awfully young, considering that he is supposed to be older than Anne. The actress who plays Anne has the looks even though her freckles seem kind of fake. Green Gables looks beautiful and little Diana is gorgeous. I want to see this and I want them to do ALL the books.

Well, the trailer looks promising. I want to see the full thing before I get too excited.

Yeah, the 80's movies that we grew up on were great in the first one...then just got odd later.

Is it wrong that I don't think Gilbert is cute enough? They're kids, (reminding myself) they're kids!!!

He didn't look like Gilbert to me either.

That Gilbert isn't doing it for me, either. Jonathan Crombie's (RIP) Gilbert was one of my first crushes, so I think everyone else is pretty much always going to pale in comparison. But the good news is that Netflix has picked it up.

I really hope Netflix doesn't feel the need to Game of Thrones-ize this. As much as I love GoT it seems like all series have to be dark these days, and this is going to be helmed by the director of Breaking Bad.
The books were sweet and innocent. I remember the grittiest thing that happened was Ruby dying of tuberculosis. Don't make Anne out to be an escapee of an abusive childhood or Gilbert a drunk when he's older.

Netflix isn't producing it, the CBC is. Netflix has just picked it up for distribution. And you shouldn't worry - Anne of GG is a national treasure and the CBC is tax-payer funded; they wouldn't dare screw with it.
