I kind of want to hold hands and sing Kumbayah now.

I read the first 50 pages of Twilight just to see what the fuss was about--I was open to finishing it, but it was terrible. I read a bit more in 50 Shades because it had such mixed advance press, and it was just stupid as hell. I read a bit in Harry Potter but can't deal with wizards and that sort of magical stuff. I didn't bother with the da Vinci code because I'd already read Holy Blood, Holy Grail.

I too read about 75 pages of 50. Hated it! I did read both DC and Holy Blood, imagine my surprise to find out it was all one big hoax. The rest of the poplar books listed, I also never read. I don't have a problem with trash, but it has to entertaining trash.

I feel very lucky - pretty much everyone I know rants about how appalling 50 Shades of Grey is, or how they refuse to read it. I guess some could be secret fans, and just feel like they have to pretend to hate it, but I honestly don't know anyone who'd admit to liking it.

I don't even know anyone who's read it. My own opinion is that if I want to read bad smut fan fiction, there are plenty of places I can do it for free online.
