No offense Moldy, but all of your first five warns could have been avoided if you had paid attention to the rules. I'm not surprised that you got warned for them. Although, admittingly, I'd use all caps and excessive to add to the sarcasm without being warned. I guess I just got lucky. I only managed one warn on FT for starting a thread that was a varient of Stars I Like. All Wing put in it was "Started a varient thread of Stars I Like", so I supposed I might have lucked out with the chunning too.
I'm not really upset at all about the forums closing a few days early. Once threads like Jesus and Your Mom got started (seriously, in case anybody's wondering), I didn't look back. Trolling around a dying forum wasn't nearly as cool as graduating to CPMCoG. Although, I totally checked out Jesus' thread before I left.

The only warn that bothered me was when I posted in a thread making fun of an article Drew Barrymore had written in Jane magazine about voting. I said it was like a 7th grader's article, "Voting is like really cool and really good for the country!!!!", complete with Drew giddily noting the fact that Fabrizio Moretti took the photos and designed the tee-shirt she was wearing. So I added, "OMG my boyfriend totally designed my shirt and took this photos y'all!! OMG isn't that cute!!1!"
And I got warned for doing the "!!1!" thing. Even though I was being sarcastic with it, and even though there was nothing on the forums anywhere that we couldn't use it (and lots of people did).

Wing made shitty remarks when she gave you a warning (just to rub it in). I have no experience with the "taking away" part.

Exactly. I am puzzled, stunned, disgusted, that they didn't have the sense given to a flea to take advantage of all that forum traffic. Which makes me think their egos are huge...they really did think people went there for the writing??
Unless they have some deal with TWoP sponsers not to have a competing forum site. I still would not have any respect for them...they could have you know, told the truth (whatever it was) about why the forums closed down. It would make a good story, too, if they had the balls to post an article about what really went down and how it affected them.
I love that our founder (foundress?) got slapped around by Wing for being immature! And then goes on to outdo her by running a way cooler site. Heh. How's that for snark.

The "not telling us the truth why FT closed" really sticks in my crawl. My tin foil hat theory is that it went was closed due to a legal reason.

I got warned for making a Weezer thread in the celebrities forum with a cutesy name rather than just Weezer. I think MFF warned me though, because it was only 20%, nothing nasty was said and it went away a couple of months later (he wrote the Weezer Fame Audit). I felt bad about it because it was such a stupid mistake.
I'd just like to say that I love the rule about not starting a post with um. Every time my first instinct was to do that, I had to sit and think of a better way to word my post, and it always sounded better.

Alright, I just jumped on the "Deleted My FT Bookmark" bandwagon. Initially I didn't because I had found many of the articles to be funny (esp MFF's), but after the CZJ vs. Roach Motels vs. Tom Hanks vs. Non-Stick Cookware vs. Blah Blah Bleh debacle, it seemed like a good time to do so. I'm not saying I won't check back in periodically, but clearly something has changed, and not for the better. The dishonest and condescending explanation of the forum closure rankles, too.

Every time my first instinct was to do that, I had to sit and think of a better way to word my post, and it always sounded better. I always thought that was a bit too nitpicky. There are better things to give warnings for (though I'm seeing that they apparently never realized that...)

The problem is, it's just so jackassy-sounding. I know anytime anyone starts a post with "Ummm" with me, I'd get pretty pissed. FT and TWoP are examples of board with good rules, but mods that are too lazy to actually *enforce* them properly. So they take the words of their good buddies.
Back at FT, I had a poster INTENTIONALLY attacking me. I even asked him to stop and asked him, "Why are you doing this?" and he replied "Because you haven't proven anything to me." And when I reported it in the Troll Patrol, *I* got banned (with the message "Nothing good ever happens to a squeaky wheel" from Wing). Rules don't work when all your buddies get to break them - no matter HOW good they are. Be honest. How many people here got warnings when they reported something that was perfectly legit?
