And I got warned for doing the "!!1!" thing. Even though I was being sarcastic with it, and even though there was nothing on the forums anywhere that we couldn't use it (and lots of people did).

Oh, I got that warning too. "Even if it's sarcastic it's still annoying." Then I got paroled several months later.

How many people here got warnings when they reported something that was perfectly legit?

I didn't get officially warned but got an in-post slap for giving the correct links for an 'infraction' that someone in the post above mine had reported with bad links. Wing got all pissy and said that she hated the duplicate reporting. I was all WTF, because if no one had included the correct links she'd have just blown the original report off.

She was really cranky. I don't ever go to the FT site itself now because the content there never rang my bell in the first place.

Both Rice and Bradley had issues with fanfiction. Bradley had encouraged it from her fans and apparantly read some of it, until a fanfic writer accused of her of stealing some ideas from her work. Then no more Darkover fanfiction unless Bradley had licensed it, through the Friends of Darkover.

Rice apparantly took note of Bradley's experience and won't read fans' submissions at all, and goes after Vampire Chronicles fanfic writers pretty rabidly, saying they infringe on her creative patent (or whatever.)

Anyway, in a site like Fametracker, with input from media fans of all stripe, it would be very easy to inadvertantly plagiarize a poster's clever, snarky words, especially if the posters were more creative than the site's administrators.

Oh, the people who posted were the best part of the place that shall not be mentioned by name. Luckily most of my favorite posters, those who are passionate and write well such as Calvin and The Jakes from the Brit thread, are here. ;D

I can't remember what my "crime" was, but I got the 20% warning but then was immediately banned. I never quite figured out what happened -- But I figured they were getting ready to discard the forums and didn't really care. You gotta admit -- Those last couple days people were getting a little nuts! All this hostility just started pouring out. Am I crazy, or did I see a thread on Jesus Christ? And the mods didn't bother closing it, which makes me think they just didn't give a damn anymore.


Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted. I had my complaints, like everyone else, but, hey! Now we got Moldy!

And the mods didn't bother closing it, which makes me think they just didn't give a damn anymore.

What killed me was that I made a specific (and rather mean, to be honest) shot at Wing Chun the day before the closings, and it was deleted! So the mods were obviously there.

BroxenOx, there's a Yahoo group called Displaced Snark and both the Wing and Jesus threads have been archived there in all their apocalyptic glory.

Thank you! The Jesus thread is still there! Whee! Actually I think what killed me was that at one point on the last day Hitler, Wing Chun, and Jesus were the top threads in Celebritites.

What a trio.
