Ah, I see. Yeah, I see shirts for sale at other boards-I got a free one from Smile and Act Nice for being a mod when the original board was still going.
I don't think I ever posted at FT, just HF and MBTV.

EXACT same thing happened to me, Rattlerbrat. I didn't get banned but I did get admonished by Wing. Despite the fact that they...encourage posters to post in the...Troll Patrol thread...argh...head...hurting. And it was my only post ever in Troll Patrol as well, about someone who was privately pm-ing me all sorts of heinous stuff and openly breaking a ton of the FT rules in the thread itself.
Are any of the FT overlords single? Someone needs to seduce them and get the goods. heh.

Again, folks, let's contain the comments about FT to the content of it, your experiences, and the folks who ran it (see Colette's post above) rather than specific people who may post here as well and see something about themselves that might be offensive (as well as potentially untrue). Thanks.

Personally I think the boards were shut down so they could concentrate more on their legitimate publishing ventures, like that HITG! book. Getting something published is a lot of work. Plus, they might not want to have been accused of stealing a forum posters' comment or idea and putting it in their own book (ala Anne Rice.)

If having more time to concentrate on their writing ventures was a main reason to shut down their boards, they are screwed, because their stuff, without the brain trust of the message board has been really lame.

As chiqui mooted, they may have wanted to avoid accusations of stealing people's ideas. It can be a serious business - I've heard of a few authors and at least one game designer who refuse to look at fan art / submissions / suggestions at all, lest they be accused of ripping someone elses idea off. Anyway, on to FT(AIIN) (Fametracker, As It Is Now): placing Harrison Ford as the Sun of Galaxy of Fame was a stroke of genius for the unassailable position he held for so many years. But I think Harry's time has passed. Who should replace him - George Clooney?

Vin Diesel? Geez, it's hard to think of an actor/actress who can be guaranteed to open a movie.

I was part of that banning. It was an honest mistake, kind of harsh punishment. Visiting FT now is like going to your favourite store after they have revamped from being in bankruptcy protection. Very empty.

Are we allowed to say something positive about some FT members?
I always liked reading bstewart's comments... I thought they were funny and intelligent.
I know this is off topic... but can you explain what happened there?

I thought that was Marian Zimmer Bradley? Either way, what happened was a popular fantasy artist had to shelve one of her books in a series because for years, she had encouraged fan fic-and then a fan accused HER of theft.
It was either Zimmer-Bradley or Anne McCafferty.
As for saying nasty stuff about posters at the FT/TWOP/HF troika, I think it makes us no better than Wing and her posse.
