I just visit now when Defamer links to them. Today was one of those days, to a list of supposed names for the Britbot's new reality show. It was pretty yawn and amateurish to me. And that bagel vs. CZJ thing, I couldn't even read all the way through.
I did enjoy their stuff at some time, but now I feel that the mainstream press is just as snarky as they are. They've lost their teeth and feel their the "alternative cool thing" when they actually are the pretenious trying to hard thing that the mainstream took over 2 years ago.

IIRC, Wing posted that they receieved a letter from the Acadamy. The old one are still there though. I just read the Ben/Matt recall the other day,

Oh, I'd forgotten about the Oscar Recall thing. I generally agreed with it, but for some reason I hadn't noticed that it had been dropped.
I still go to look at the new pieces. The one thing I have ignored for quite awhile now is the Daily Poll because it seems like, no matter what, most people vote for the last choice, which is sort of the "punchline" to the poll. Kind of to show that they "get it" I suppose, or that they're in on the joke. Sometimes when it was an interesting question I was actually kind of curious to see what people really thought, but most of the time, like I said, they go for the "more cynical than thou" last answer.
I wish there were more Galaxies of Fame!

I've noticed that too, definitely. Nowadays the mainstream have gotten more snarky, it's even evident reading the television listings in Heat or the weekly television magazine I get from the Sunday papers. They make snarky comments about programmes or actors and adopt a informal-ish tone for television listings. I personally find this annoying because usually the quality's piss-poor, "hey I just want to see what's on telly I don't want your opinion, if I wanted snark I'd go look some high quality stuff, thank you very much".

There is a new Galaxy of Fame and it is not funny at all. The site needs to be put down.

Ew. You're right. I didn't even bother finishing the Galaxy of Fame and that's usually my favorite thing. I wonder why they're going through the motions at this point? If they haven't become the Hunter S. Thompsons of their generation by now, well... Obviously the "right" people aren't paying attention. That "Bad Teen Novel" was a valiant (if pathetic) effort but my advice at this point would be, "Give it up and get a job."
(Of course, they'd have to learn to get along with other human beings.)

I haven't linked to FT since they shoved us all out of the nest and had us fly off to the hinterlands. Fortunately, this (CPMCoG) is a fabulous hinterland and I'm glad we all landed here.

Something I always wondered...
Is there a reason that Harrison Ford is the sun in the galaxy of fame? Or is it just another attempt to be funny (in yet another way that I don't understand?)

At one point in time, Harrison really was the golden sun of fame. Everything he was in was box office gold. (I think he still has been the top 6 grossing movies of all time - 3 Star Wars, 3 indy movies. But that list probably has changed by now.) Today, however, as much as I still have a soft spot in my heart for him, not so much. You know, kind of like FT: once was really good, today, not so much.

With LOTR, HP, and the Star Wars prequels that has definitely changed. Domestically, only one of those (the original SW) is in the top 10 of the all time gross. Harrison is number 2 behind Tom Hanks for the actor with the highest grosses for all flicks. So he's still pretty golden.
