I finished reading Doctor Sleep today and LOVED it. It was a really satisfying, heartwarming read. And Uncle Steve must be getting soft in his old age because {Spoiler}he didn't kill off anyone I loved ! I was a little afraid that adult Danny Torrance wouldn't be appealing but I was so wrong. I just loved him and all the other characters. The villains were satisfyingly evil and actually something new that I hadn't read before. I can't remember the last time I was so happy with a King book from beginning to end (even the ending was good!). Before this one, I reread 2-7 of The Dark Tower. I like the series more every time I reread. I also looked up King's bibliography on wiki and I realized that I have missed a lot of the things he published after 11/22/63. Must go back and catch up.

I really liked Doctor Sleep too. I really feel like King has gone his writing mojo back with this last few novels - they have been excellent!
That scene though with the woman that Danny picked up, her son and the left over crack stayed with me for quite a while. It's something I can easily imagine happening in real life.

I have to agree on Doctor Sleep. It was the first book in a while that I couldn't put down.

Adding to the Doctor Sleep praise. So very satisfying to see grown-up Dan(ny) Torrance and actually like him and root for him. SK was obviously channeling a lot of his own addiction issues with him, but it totally worked. Really great read.

Hey, it's Stephen King! Isn't that customary, if not required? I like that the money the show is raising is going to charity, helping artists and writers who don't have a financial cushion if they are seriously injured.

I have no idea how they'll do this, but Gerald's Game will be the next movie adaptation. And I saw somewhere that Firestarter will become a series. Maybe for USA Network?

Don't know how they'll top Tim Curry as Pennywise. Unless they get Tim Curry to play Pennywise, of course. Both It and The Stand were good as serialized stories on TV. But they are both great stories with perfect villains and scary situations that could be done well again.
Gerald's Game? Meh. Better get a great actress for facial expressions since that book is mostly inside-the-head dialogue and exposition.
