I know, that's why I find this whole thing schadenfreude-licious. It also used to crack me up how she'd talk about her "hot" young husband. Um, I'm sorry, but he busted. He clearly knew how to lay it down, though, so he probably earned every cent that he's asking for.

They both seem like sleazy and manipulative assholes. And she's clearly got anger issues, and she's a fucking homophobic bitch too.

I hope Joy Behar brings this up on The View to get Star's "perspective" about it.

She really annoys me, she's very smug, although I loved her books. In most of her books she portrays Black men as cheaters, lazy, druggie, and in need of a Black woman to get them on track. Now I guess her Black male characters will be cheaters, lazy, druggies AND gay. I guess the Black woman will have no one to get back on track.

At another board I go to, her situation was being discussed, but the idea there seemed to be that Terry is very, very intelligent, and that if this could happen to someone as smart as her, it could happen to anyone.

So I paraphased some of the posts from this thread and posted them, making the disclaimer that they weren't my personal thoughts and that I have never read one of her books. I asked about what zacandmax said about her depiction of black male characters, and the response I got back from one poster was that it's not necessarily that she's sterotyping black men, but just that she's going on what her own personal experiences have been--that when she writes, her characters are based on the men she's met and dated.

Well, now like I said I've never read one of her books, but one of my pet peeves have always been women who go around bitching about how all guys are dogs as though they themselves are just this immaculate "catch". Do you all think Terry McMillian is like this? If you find every heterosexual black male you meet to be so horrible, maybe it's time to take a good look at you, yourself.

So much WORD to this statement. Terry seems like a selfish, ungiving bitch, so I'm not surprised that she's received the same behavior in return. You reap what you sow.

She might be "very, very intelligent," but I suspect that in this situation she was so far up her own ass that she couldn't see the shyster right in front of her. Terry probably thinks that she's so hot that there's no question as to why a 20 year old guy would be all over her ass. In contrast, those with a bit more perspective and humility might be suspicious.

IRL maybe she truly fell in love with Winston/Jonathan and was flattered by his interest in her. To find out several years into a marriage that your husband is gay and never loved you has to be extremely difficult, I cannot begin to imagine what she is going through. Maybe I've watched the wrong interviews but I never got a bitch vibe from her. I hope she has a good lawyer and a good therapist to get her through this.

I'm not denying that she was in love with him or that she is devastated by his coming out. All I'm saying is that a woman in her late forties, dating a man in his early twenties should question his motives as well as her own. Especially if said woman is an intelligent, best selling author who was in every magazine and every television interview bragging about the romance and said man is broke with no job, from a foreign country. Her judgement is questionable. I really can't see how he swept her off her feet when he didn't even have money to buy a broom.
