She seems like a really solid, grounded person.

She's very likeable and accessible...but I don't understand why she chooses to do the movies that she does. I mean, Miss Congeniality2? Actually, why did she even bother to do the first one? For someone with her clout and status, you'd think she'd be able to pull off some kind of transforming Julia-Roberts-Erin-Brokovich type of move. I'm not saying that she could win an Oscar, because I can't really tell how talented she is, but surely she has enough power to pull off a quality film that showcases her talent.

I get the feeling Sandy has adopted Hugh Grant's attitude about dramatic roles: I could do them, but so many other people do them better, why bother?
Maybe it's simply that these films are the ones she enjoys making, and/or that she would go see herself. I think it's kind of lazy to never stretch beyond your comfort level, but everyone has a different way of measuring success. If her measure is being super rich and famous, well, she's there. She seems to be happy coasting and comfortable with the knowledge that there will come a time in the not too distant future when she's not a commodity.

She's got so many irons in the fire--George Lopez's show, her new restaurant in Austin, at least two homes and buildings that she's renovating, stepkids--that I doubt there are enough hours in the day to do everything justice and still pursue award-winning roles in important films. I think she mostly does movies that interest her, with the occasional guaranteed ticket-seller thrown in just to fund the rest of her projects.

I'm not saying that she should necessarily go after Oscar-worthy dramatic roles. I just think that the romantic comedies that she chooses to do could be a little better. Hugh Grant does what he enjoys but the films he chooses to do are generally pretty funny... nothing to really cringe at. But movies like Miss Congeniality seem like they're at the bottom of the barrel. I just think she could do better. Even Julia Roberts' bad films like Mona Lisa Smile are better than Sandra's Congeniality movies.

[small voice]I thought Miss Congeniality was pretty funny. That "world peace" scene cracked me up.[/sm]

I like Miss Congeniality too. But my favourite bit is Michael Caine watching her remove all of her weapons from her dress then sarcastically asking, "No armoured car?"
"That would be in my other dress." ;D
I suspect a lot of my MissC love is for Michael Caine.
Favourite Sandra films? Speed and While You Were Sleeping.

Has this been posted elsewhere? A stalker tried to run over Jesse in the driveway of the home he shares with Sandra. Personally, aside from the whole assault with a deadly weapon issue, I don't get why you'd want to kill someone that you supposedly love. Killing their spouse makes more sense, I guess. Them? Not so much.

People and TMZ are reporting that there have been stalker issues with the assailant. This may be the person that Sandy's had restraining orders against.

Scary, scary stuff. And with James' child there... ugh. I hope they can put this person away, because she sounds whacko enough that a restraining order will not keep her away.
