Holy crap! I'm glad both Sandra and Jesse are safe & sound after the incident. How frightening.

I cannot understand this woman's behavior. What would possess someone to do something like this?

All the stories are saying she was obsessed with Sandra, so maybe she was trying to kill the spouse of the person she loves.
Anyhow, that stalking expert Gavin de Becker is paid to screen celebrity mail and he says he ignores the letters that say, "I hate you and I'm going to kill you!" because those people are not the ones who attack. He zeroes in on the ones who say, "I feel a deep spiritual connection to you and we're destined to be together." Those are the people who are really dangerous. A lot of them will try to kill the celebrity thinking that way they'll be together in the afterlife.

Holy crap! She's always been one of my favorite actresses -- there's something really genuine about her in films, and she comes across as a really nice person in interviews. I can't believe that happened. How terrifying for her and her family!
Ginger, that's exactly right. It's never the ones who say they're going to kill you who are actually going to do something. It's the ones who start feeling that deep connection -- and when they inevitably feel slighted/rejected, that's when they get violent. Scary, scary stuff. I'm glad I'm not famous.

I like her but I'll never forgive her for those hours Premonition stole from my life.

Mrs. CatHead:
Absolutely. I don't think I can even forgive her for the minutes the Premonition ads stole from my life.

I feel really badly for her. I don't think she famewhores that much. I think she promotes her movies but she certainly made her wedding private and she lives in Austin much of the time. If Paris or Britney has a stalker, well, I feel like they might invite that kind of crazy because they're always in the public eye. But someone like Sandra Bullock seems like she's trying to do her job and use the media to promote her films, not to promote herself, and in spite of all that she still gets a psycho stalker. Seems mighty unfair.
This sounds nutty, but it's probably a good thing that the stalker actually attempted something that they can put her away for. It's probably worse when you keep getting the threatening letters and the cops keep saying "We can't do anything because they haven't done anything yet..." Unless the stalker gets a pass for the crazy, assault with a deadly weapon is a serious charge, and she should do enough time for Sandra to hopefully get some peace.

Dave Letterman was another private celebrity who has had scary stalker problems. Maybe the crazy ones are attracted to less accessible stars? They do have a greater sense of mystery. Why bother stalking Britney/Paris, since the public knows everything about them?

That's a very good point. The less famewhore-ish stars may be more of a blank slate upon which the crazies can project all their fantasies.
Sandra seems so down to earth. I like that she does a lot of things without a lot of to-do. I remember about a year or so ago her sister opened a bakery and Sandra went up to help her out on the first day -- it wasn't announced, and she wasn't out front schmoozing with customers, but actually behind the counter ringing people up.
I feel really sorry for her too and in the end it is probably a good thing that this woman pulled something like this (without anyone actually getting hurt) because now they can press charges and put her away.
Sandra sure does pick crappy scripts, but she seems so sweet and funny and she'll always get a pass for While You Were Sleeping, which is one of my favorite guilty pleasures.
