Why is she wearing so many necklaces?
She looks pretty though.
I don't have anything bad to say about her either, but I'm perplexed that she's never criticized for doing the same genre of movie over and over and bad movies at that (how did someone with her status get wrangled into doing Miss Congeniality?). She doesn't seem to get criticized the way Julia Roberts did when younger or criticized like Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Aniston, etc. for sticking to safe territory. I think some of Bullock's movies are worse than theirs.
Edited to add:
Not that she should be criticized, but she seems like teflon in that regard. It's just that some of her movies are unfathomably bad, and I don't understand why she does them when she's on the A-list.

But, I do wish she'd branch out a bit. When I saw the preview for "The Proposal" I rolled my eyes. She's better than this. And it almost feels like that movie she did with Hugh Grant, but with the roles reversed. As for Miss Congeniality, I believe that Sandy produced that one (and it may have come out of her production company) so she's got no one to blame for that one other than herself. And honestly, it did good business and was a cute movie. I really don't think the sequel was necessary, but that's Hollywood for ya. And she has branched out a bit with the stuff she produces - Hope Floats, Murder by Numbers, and producing "George Lopez" - so while I kinda wish that she'd step away from the cheesy romcoms, I can't say that she hasn't been pretty successful.

In a recent interview (I can't remember if it was with the Austin American-Statesman or Harper's Bazaar), she said that doing movies funds the projects that she really enjoys--namely, restoring historic buildings and opening little businesses here and there. Right now she owns several pieces of prime real estate in downtown Austin--she's opened a restaurant in one, a catering/floral design/teahouse in another, and rents a third to Lance Armstrong's bike shop/cafe.

In addition to doing what she does well she also gives the impression that she's happy with the career she has and doesn't want to have a career of a "serious dramatic actor", in addition she doesn't court the paparazzi which means that she's has less everyday exposure, so people are actually glad to see her rather than sick of her constantly being in their face.

Wow, that's fantastic that she's a savvy businesswoman as well. Just goes to show that you can have a good acting career and maintain success in more ways than one without resorting to famewhoredom.

I remember reading that she was buying property in Austin and had opened a restaurant, but I didn't know how much she owned. That's pretty cool. And probably a pretty good investment. Michael Stipe does the same thing to a lesser extend in Athens, GA (or at least he was when I was going to school there).

Eeek, she's looking a little thin there. She's got such strong features (which I love), she needs a little fat to soften them, I think.
This maybe should go under True Confessions, but I admit to being one of the few people who really, really liked The Lake House. I thought Sandra did a great job in it; I don't buy that she does a lot of rom-coms and other assorted lighter fare because she doesn't have the chops as a dramatic actress. Either those are the scripts that are coming her way or she just happens to have a preference for that kind of material.

I think its the latter, she has the clout if she wanted it to produce her own vehicle to enter the world of "serious dramatic acting" but she's never really made a big push. I think she's happy with what she has and I admire her for sticking with that.

I think she tried some dramatic acting in 28 Days, playing an alcoholic. I couldn't tell if the performance was good or not.
It does seem she has a preference for lighter material and romantic comedies. I just don't understand why she picks such bad ones to star in. I figured the top-of-the-line romantic comedies, if they exist, would go to her first because she's A-list.
I think Matthew McConaughey explained, in a similar vein to Sandra Bullock, that he does the projects he does to fund the activities he enjoys, but he doesn't seem immune from the criticism of not varying his film choices.

I think Sandra Bullock is just really, really likable. And, after watching The Apprentice, I really like her husband. So I'll watch her make rom-coms about couples who meet in assisted living, and probably really enjoy the results.
