Y’all. This Momo Challenge crap is unsettling. Is it true, though? I've seen so many conflicting reports about it. That it's a hoax and only meant to alarm parents to stories where kids have actually interacted with whatever it's supposed to be and were told they'd be killed, etc. At any rate, probably wouldn't hurt for me to lock down YouTube so my daughter isn't exposed to unwanted crap while she's watching cat videos.

Be aware. MissP is in a doom loop at school. She is easily distracted by Broadway videos on YT. But I can't block it, because ALL her schoolwork is done on Google Classroom. Since they are all one big corporate monolith, blocking one blocks them all. Also, looking over her shoulder last week, I learned that a LOT of her schoolwork is LITERALLY watching videos on YT, and answering questions as they do.
Why are teachers required to have advanced degrees again?
ETA: I do not mean to say teachers waste their time getting degrees. Teachers are generally awesome. But if all the board lets them do is assign you tube vids, do they really need them?

I'm sure I've posted some of his videos before, but Ozzy Man always brings a smile to my face and cheers me up. This video is no different. There's always NSFW lingo, and he can be a bit cheeky, but he's not a lunkhead, a racist, or a neckbeard. Rare in the YouTube world.

A hilarious review of a disastrous movie viewing in hot tubs in Vancouver. His Unfriended review is funny, too.

I'm mildly obsessed with Li Ziqi's videos. She has millions of followers, so obviously I'm not the only one, but I just discovered her, and her videos are so soothing. Basically, she's a vlogger who lives in rural China in some amazing paradise garden (complete with adorable animals) with her grandmother. She demonstrates how to cook and create other things using traditional Chinese methods. Granted, it's hard to tell how much of this is genuine (though her skills certainly are), given that she appears to live in the middle of no where in a very rural style, but clearly has a great internet connection and a really nice camera (and someone operating that camera for her). She also apparently sells merch and whatnot. But again...just so peaceful. And so many of her recipes look amazing. Even if there is no way in hell I could make them (because I don't have the roses or giant jars of honey to make rose jam, for example).

Yeah, she seems to have a perfectly curated life, with all the perfectly polished copper pieces et al, but damn, those videos are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Despite what has to be some artifice (those copper pieces, etc), I am still amazed at her skills. I’ve seen this cute little fire-burning oven she’s got that looks like a kitty. Then I ran across the video where she built it. Like...what? Then in her magnolia blossom video she made these dumplings that “blossomed” when she placed then in the oil to fry them and they were so perfect I wanted to hit something. I mean, even with help, I don’t know how she does half this stuff. And it’s beyond cute that most videos end with her sitting down with her grandmother to eat what she’s prepared. Also, I kinda want her wardrobe. Not the dramatic Disney Princess stuff, but her traditional linen shirts and whatnot. They look so comfy.

Her videos are too highly produced and edited to be legitimately authentic. Not that there's anything wrong with it! It's a super cute idea/channel. It reminded me of when I got hooked on primitive building, hunting, and fishing videos last year. My insomnia has led me down some deep YT rabbit holes. Those recommended videos have led me to all sort of amazing videos. People in developing countries really are heroes. The stuff they do everyday is awe inspiring. And here I get all pissy when someone has too many items in the 20 items or less. Imagine digging in knee deep mud to make bamboo traps for crabs. My other current fascination? The nearly silent Japanese tiny crafting videos. It's like crack. And most things from Buzzfeed's Tasty channel.

I have reached a new low in my YouTube viewing when I recently watched a novice pathologist dissect a recently amputated diabetic foot (human.)
