So, what's the consensus on Time Magazine 'Person of the Year'[/color]? My mind says 'Nancy Pelosi' but my heart says 'The Youtube Guys'.

I agree with both of your choices.
I am rather stupid about world news (and national news unless it's of the scandalous variety) and I am ashamed to admit I have no idea who Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Hugo Chavez are but according to online voting, they're winning so apparently I need to just make a reservation in a nice cafe for "Moron: Party of one" and read up on some back issues of Newsweek.
Condi and Al haven't done anything really remarkable this year.

I vote "iPod", since TIME is so hip and on the cutting edge of everything.
In other news, movie critic Richard Corliss couldn't be a bigger tool if he tried.

I subscibe to Time and haven't gotten the issue yet so I am a bit surprised that they picked Pelosi since she hasn't really done much yet except piss some of her fellow Democrats off. I think the entire Democratic party should have gotten the nod.

Did they pick Pelosi, I have not seen it. Lord, I hope not. I hope this is not my political views shining through, but after that spectacular misstep as she was coming out of the gate, I don't think she is as influentual as she thinks she is. Plus, I think she is hateful, and I like plenty of Democrats, I think Harry Reid is lovely. But she is hateful.
I like the YouTube guys, or I would really like to see Disabled Iraqi Veterans. Or the Iraqi People.

I would say Iraqi Insurgents too as this is the defintion But since in 2001 they gave it to Guliani over Osama (who really was the most influential and Stalin and Hitler have been given the title) I really don't think they will give it to them. I actually think in some ways GWB does deserve it this year as going by the above quote he fits, the election backlash, Iraq, Afghanistan, Katrina still, immigration, Alito was confirmed in January and he was able to put 2 conservatives on the court. I think he deserves it more this year than in 2000 and 2004. And the person of the year is...all of us. I fell so loved at this moment. And the best thing is it is on the money.

I like it! I really do. I think it says quite a bit about Time, that they would be willing to do that. It's nice to see the big media cooperations, starting to get the clue that they can't force-feed the news to us anymore. Places like YouTube, show us more of the how the world works than the hyped up news of CNN.

A bit of a cop out on Time's part, isn't it? Still, it's better than last year's. I mean, Bill and Melinda Gates and Bono? Sure, they're humanitarians, but they were far from the most influential people of that year.
But then, I haven't expected much from Time after they failed to put Osama bin Laden on the 2001 cover. Granted, it would have looked bad to see his mug with "Person of the Year" written below, but he really was the most influential person of that year. No one else was even close.
