Thanks for the recommendation for Bubble World. I read it this weekend and really liked it. It reminded me a little of Ready Player One which is one of my favorites. I am kinda sick of trilogies and series. Anyone have any other recs for stand alones?

I'm reading Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein for my teacher book club (our librarian picked it). Here's the blurb on the back cover--
I just started it yesterday and haven't gotten very far yet, but I'm absolutely sucked in.

Gigiree, I loved that book. It's pretty intense, especially towards the end.

One of my favorite YA authors, Zilpha Keatley Snyder, died this week at 87. The Egypt Game and The Headless Cupid were awesome, but The Changeling was the absolute best.

I loved the Velvet Room, too. Thanks for posting, SGleason.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman--love it. It's the first of four in a series.
ETA there's a short story that fills in gaps in book one.

I read 2 YA books, free courtesy of Kindle, this week. The Fire Seekers by Richard Farr and Broken Symmetry by Dan Rix. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of writing, especially for free Kindle books.

Has Lisa McMann been mentioned? Love her "Fade" and "Visions" series. "Jenny Pox" by J.L. Bryan was good, too, and the beginning of a trilogy that I need to continue.

I was sad to see Lois Duncan passed away earlier this summer. The only reason I even knew is that one of her very old books (not one of her thrillers) was sup posed to be republished in August, and I noticed it disappeared from my saved items on Amazon--when I looked up her website, I saw the news.

That reminds me--I've had Down a Dark Hall sitting on my coffee table for a couple of months. I'll make time to read it this weekend.
