Is it pathetic that from the moment the clock struck 12, I've been obsessively checking my Kindle to see if SVC has been auto delivered?

I canceled my Kindle order and went ahead and bought it off iBooks. That was how impatient I was for it.

Ughhhh. I just read an EW.com review and the "reviewer" spoiled just about EVERYTHING!!!!! At least she spared us the ending though.
I'm still going to get the book though. But it'll be this weekend.

Mine won't be here 'till the first! I should just avoid this thread. I'm SO impatient!

I completely dorked out all over Francine last night. (I may -- may! --have slapped down a 25+yr-old notebook in which Lil' Dwanollah began her own writing after reading an SVH book and told her "I blame you and Elizabeth Wakefield for this!" ) And I finished the book. It turns out, FP can actually write a decent book, and, if this was anything but the Wakefield twins, it'd be okay. But there are too many continuity issues (because once your heroines have battled werewolves, where can you go from there when they're 27?) and suspensions of disbelief re: the characters themselves. I laughed out loud when Elizabeth thinks to herself something along the lines of how she, unlike Jessica, never cheated on her boyfriends and was all pro-committment. BITCH PLEASE! But it is a quick, fun read. I was surprised at how small the event last night was; only about 30 people, maybe, tops. But there was a CPMCoG lurker in line next to me! *waving* And Francine was delightful... even when one of the mods at 1BRUCE1 clearly knew more about her own books than she did!

That sounds awesome Dwan! Is the new book accessible for those who haven't read a SVH book in 20 years, or do you have to be familiar with the whole series? I matured and moved on to the great literature of V.C. Andrews, Stephen King, and Anne Rice in junior high.

OK, I am timidly crawling out of lurkdom just to say how cool it was to meet Francine AND Dwanollah! A bit off topic: I hope I wasn't too "OMG-ish." I truly am a fan of this community so it was a hugely unexpected and fantastic surprise to meet you (Dwanollah). My sister told me later that she half expected me to ask her to snap a pic of you and me. I don't want to give the other lurkers a bad name; I'm sure they are nowhere near as weird as I am. Oh about Francine. She was so nice. It's always a pleasant surprise to meet celebrities (she is one to us right??) and not be completely disenchanted after the encounter.

TG, you and your sister were awesome, and it was great to meet you! But don't kid yourself... many other Greecies are even weirder than you. MANY. And I was so pleased at how genuinely nice Francine was as well; how often to you get to meet authors who actually seem to WANT to meet their readers that way?! Satellite, it's absolutely accessible to all kinds of SV readers. There are, like I said, numerous problems with the book, but what she did so well was really, truly humanize the twins... especially Jessica. I was pleasantly surprised by that. Wish me luck... me and one of the 1BRUCE1 gals get to party with Miss Fran tonight! GAAAAAH!

I kinda want to read SVC which is odd since I was never a major SVH fan. I've read some of the books but Elizabeth's wet noodle spine and Jessica sociopathic ways prevented me from really becoming a fan of the series. Lila was entertaining but only she can do so much. In my defense, I had not yet figured out how to really snark and how bad novels can provide snark material. Does anybody know if this book is so bad it's entertaining or is it just plain bad? I mean still crying after having an orgasm certainly sounds like the book has potential to be so bad it's good but I've been fooled before!

My review of the book is up at 1BRUCE1! I tried to be as spoiler-free as possible, but some of the comments include spoilers, so read at your own risk.
