It sounds like it will be one of those characters who is a stand-in for the audience, all aghast at how nuts the SVH world is, until he/she gets sucked in him/herself.

Hmmm...sounds like a combination of Pleasantville and Mean Girls. And speaking of getting sucked in, I have an quantum ton of things to finish tonight, but I've found myself wondering about the Jeffrey v. Todd storylines, if Easy Annie is a better "issue" character than Fat Robin or Wheelchair Enid, and...well, you know.

I'm just hoping that Diablo put a whole lot of rape accusations in the movie. It was really, really messed up the way the characters threw rape accusations around in those books.
And Todd MUST care about whales.

I have to say I had to Google this because I don't really remember any, besides the somewhat implied threat of rape--in All Night Long, with the creep untying Jessica's bikini top, and then wasn't there something about Mr Collins being inappropriate or something. I stopped reading around #72, so I have a feeling I'm missing out, as it were.

Didn't Lila Fowler barely escape an attempted date rape also?

Yes in Don't Go Home With John-and in the spinoff SVU Jessica herself nearly got date raped...
Supposedly the film is pushing for a hard "R" rating...

Didn't Lila Fowler barely escape an attempted date rape also? According to my research, that was "Don't go home with John" #90. I would love this movie incredibly hard if Haviland Morris, who was allegedly the model for Elizajess on the covers is cast in some role or other--Mrs Wakefield, perhaps?

For the untrue rape accusations - Jessica got the ball rolling right in the first book when she accused Todd of trying something with her (not true), and at some point Lila had her therapist arrested to attempted rape (also not true, though she survived an actual attempted rape at some point), some chick whose name I can't remember tried to seduce Mr. Collins and when he didn't fall for it, she tore her clothes and told Liz he tried to rape her, etc. And of course, there were plenty of actual date rape attempts. The livejournal group "1Bruce1" hilariously has tags for "attempted rape (fake)" and "attempted rape (real)".
I was just always amazed at how much rape was used as a plot point in books aimed at a younger crowd.

There was quite a lot of attempted rape/actual rape, or rape accusations in SVU, too, though I guess that series was slightly more mature, being about university students.

Yeah, Bruce and warm paper cups of wine are legendary....
I think a new character -- like the contrasting characters in the Brady movie -- could work if done right. I'm so freakin' excited about this!
And there was a post somewhere about a soap actress who was a model for the twins. And she looked JUST LIKE those covers to the point of creepiness. I'll see if I can find it....
