Can you imagine a book club about Twilight? I'm thinking literary analysis along the lines of "how dreamy do you think Edward is, super-dreamy or super DUPER dreamy?" You know the sad thing is I'm *sure* one of those Twilight Moms (don't get me started!) tried to assign it for their suburban hausfrau book club. I wonder if there any reading guides to the series online. Of course there is. There's also a study guide, in case you've missed the nuances of the book.

If you need a reading guide for Twilight, how are you going to deal with a book like Les Miserables?

My answers to the questions: 1. What is the significance of the title: Twilight? ...
2. Can you identify with Bella's thoughts and actions throughout the book? Why or why not? Yes. I too aspire to be a whiny, useless, pathetic Mary Sue with a vampire stalker.
3. Edward is ferociously attracted to Bella by her smell. That may make his love unconditional (because she can't change the smell of her blood), but does it make it less admirable since it's not based on character? What? I do not think 'unconditional' means what the question writer thinks it means. Even if the condition of Bella's blood is unchanging, his attraction to her is still conditional.
4. Is Rosalie's dislike of Bella justified? Why or why not? Yes. Because Bella's a pathetic waste of space.
5. Do you think Carlisle did the right thing changing Edward into a vampire, or was it selfish? Does Edward show any signs of resentment toward Carlisle for what he did? Explain. Yes, I think it was selfish. I don't remember if he shows any signs of resentment, because that would require my rereading the series. Not gonna happen.
6. Would it appeal to you to live forever? Why or why not? Would I meet people like Edward? Then no.
7. Do you think Billy's unsolicited warnings to Bella are entirely well-intentioned, or might there be something sinister going on? Oooh, maybe Billy wants Bella for himself! Because, after all, she's soooo desirable. Let's not forget that, according to Stephenie Meyer, one of the guys in love with her Mary Sue-ness is Mr. Banner. That's right, the biology teacher. What's to stop Billy Black from lusting after her?
8. Edward really is unlike any human guy – even his breath is intoxicating! What do you make of the criticism that Twilight gives young female readers unrealistic expectations of men? Unrealistic? How do you mean? Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna see if I can find my own sparkly vampire boyfriend.
9. The author makes clear that vampires have to be very attractive to their prey, but do you think Edward is too perfect? Why or why not? No. He is not too perfect. Being possessive, judgmental, rude, abusive, controlling, and stalk-y are not admirable traits.

Hmmmm. Interesting that there's nothing in the study guide about the idea that women are tempting creatures who hold the responsibility for a male's self-control. Blech.
And how does "attracted to her smell" = love?

We have those where I work! Uh...they don't sell very well. Even the crazed 15-year-olds who stop by after school to gaze lovingly at our Twilight display have better taste.

I would love to buy the band-aids. Could you imagine? A friend cuts themselves while they're at your house and you're like, "Oh. Need a band-aid? Here's Edward Cullen." Mwahaha.

I get the feeling that there's a heavy overlap between Venn Diagrams of "people who cut themselves" and "people who would want Twilight band-aids."
Do they make your wounds/blood smell like freesia?

The best part, is that Renesmee's middle name is...Carlie. After Edwards vampdad Carlisle and Bella's dad, Charlie. Mostly because it would have made, you know, sense to use Edwards biological moms name, but that's Elizabeth which is too normal for a Mormon. When do they tell us his parents' names? When I first heard "freesia", I keep thinking "Febreez." Hehehehe! (I will make a confession-I do like the rest of his siblings. They're not as...obsessive. Or creepy. I'd probably hang out with Alice. But if I were Bella, I would have gone out with Mike.)
