So I've been poking around in a lot of threads here looking for some talk of Twilight and New Moon by Stephanie Meyers and haven't seen anyone discussing them.
Twilight is about Bella and her vampire boyfriend, Edward, and all the problems that can arise when your love is a part of the undead. I have SUCH a crush on Edward. New Moon is the second in the series (of which I've heard there will be five).
Twilight, in particular, is a very sweet, romantic (but not mushy) book and will even appeal to those that don't like vampire books. They're young adult novels and my new crack!

I just finished Twilight this morning, and it's very swoon-inducing. And yes, despite that whole being-a-vampire thing, Edward is damn near perfect. I've never really been into Vampire books, so I was surprised at how much I liked this one.
Though I have to admit, at the end of Twilight <<I was wondering what the hell Bella was thinking. I mean, it's dumb enough to think you could sneak away from the Cullens without them knowing, especially when they're just trying to protect you, but then to want to become a vampire? I don't care how hot Edward is (and when I pictured him as I read, he was scorchingly so) I don't think that's exactly the best choice. But then again, she's young, maybe she'll grow out of that. I'm really intersted to see where New Moon goes with that whole idea.>>

I just read "Twilight", and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I'm going to get "New Moon" this weekend, and then get the other one. I guess it's going to be a 4-part series, with the last one coming out in August. I think that I'm going to hate to see this one end.

I think that I'm going to hate to see this one end. Yeah, I'm going to be sorry when the series ends. In other news, are people aware that there is a film version of the first book currently in production? Here are some cast photos. I think I approve of the Edward and Esme casting, if nothing else. I'm intrigued by the choice of Peter Facinelli as Carlisle -- maybe because my strongest memory of him is as the douchebag ex of Jennifer Love Hewitt in Can't Hardly Wait

I'm having the same problem, CoCo! To me, Peter Facinelli will always be Mike Dexter, heh.
I have to say that, over time, I've been able to see some of the flaws in the books. I mean, they're still great guilty pleasure reads, but they're not epic storytelling or anything. I'm actually really interested to see how the movie turns out, because I think it could actually improve some of the book's problems.

Okay, I got way too excited when I saw this thread. I love these books, I've read all three, will buy the next one when it comes out, and will be at the movie opening day. It's my new Harry Potter-style crack.
I've made all my friends read them, and everyone feels the same way I do, except one friend who thinks it's ridiculous teen crap. Thing is, she's right. I know she's right, but damn. My inner twelve year old wants to marry Edward.

Ack, I hate these books -- and I really do like YA literature in general. However, I ended up getting Twilight for my friend as a birthday present, because I figured it'd be right up her alley. And I was right. She loved it, bought the other two books, and told me that she keeps rereading the sections that feature Edward.

Absolutely a guilty pleasure for me -- I think the books are fun in an escapist sort of way.

I read Twilight in one day. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I actually really did.
I put the other two on hold at the library, and of course, Eclipse came in before New Moon did. I'm hoping NM comes in within the next few days because I know I won't be able to renew Eclipse.

I bought the 1st book for my sister as she is a vampire nut and she loved it - she ran right out and bought the next 2 books. She loaned them to me and I loved them. The next book comes out in Aug I believe and I can't wait. I'm curious to see what plays out with Bella & Edward - will he turn her or not? and if not is that the end of them?
