Ah, so true. She was like that aunt that you thought was really cool and hip when you were younger and then the older you got you started thinking "Dear God, what is wrong with this woman? Why doesn't she grow up and stop acting like she's my age?!"

This sort of makes me sad. I remember I bought the very first issue, the one with Drew Barrymore on the cover, and even collected it for a while. Until the pervasive presence of Pamela Anderson, however. At first I was like, "Oh, that's so subversive! She's not at all what you'd think of when you think of feminist role models!" Then after a while I decided Jane wasn't going with subversiveness; she was just annoying.

That's just it-- I thought the Pamela Anderson thing had an opportunity to be subversive and interesting, but it didn't work out that way. I liked when they gave her the makeover, though.
