Honestly, it went pretty much how I thought it would, only BETTER. I wasn't impressed with HBP, so I didn't know what to expect with this one. I will say one thing- Minerva McGonagall is a BAD. ASS.

I feel the same way. I'll just be like, "Damn that was some pretty good fanfic!". Maybe Snape gets to live in the real one or at least doesn't die from a stupid snakebite.

Early reports from that LJ with spoilers linked to upthread seem to indicate that the leaked photos were indeed of the real book. IMO, the epilogue is lame and very fan-ficcy, but that's all I've read of the actual book. I've read all the spoilers, but that won't spoil reading the book for me. I just won't have to rush through it now.

Ginny and Harry's kids name are very fan-fiction. I'm surprised there wasn't a Lupin Sirius or Fred Sirius.

I agree - I was pleased he named one kid after Severus and recognizes his utter coolness and bravery, but to pair that with Albus? If I was that kid I'd be, "call me Al".

That's what I disliked about the epilogue - too smarmy and sappy. I was underwhelmed. I wish she had the balls to kill Harry or Ron or Hermione. Or Ginny!

According to UPS my book has been in the city since 10 this morning!
It's still 2 hours here (central standard time) before the release, I guess soon enough we'll know if it's true or not. The local news is trying to debunk the spoilers saying they are just fakes.

ETA: the Spoil Me LJ is confirming that carpet book was real by people in Europe and Asia

It's definitely real. Lots of people with the book have compared it to the leak. I've been looking at and entry in the brand new lj com dh_epic_fail. There's a discussion of the hilarious line that Remus has:

It is I, Remus John Lupin!" called a voice over the howling wind. Harry experienced a thrill of fear; what had happened? "I am a werewolf, married to Nymphadora Tonks, and you, the Secret-Keeper of Shell Cottage, told me the address and bade me come in an emergency!"

WTF, Remus? You're cracking me up over here, and I don't think I'm supposed to be laughing this hard.

Somebody also has the best R/S icon. It says, "we're in ur afterlife havin hot ghost secks".

Just the epilogue suggest to me that Rowling's been reading too much fanfic, or maybe she was just in a hurry...
