The ones I wanted to die, died. Those that I expected to die, died. Those that I wanted to live, lived.
I am happy. ;D And i'm glad that I totally called it on the Lily-Snape connection back in Order of the Phoenix. Young Snape was so cute, all greasy hair and ill-fitting clothes. I loved the part where he threatened to sleep outside the Gryffindor dorms if Lily didnt' turn up.
The epilogue was a bit fanficky, but I'm ok with it. I just wish we could have seen lil Dudley Jr. boarding the Hogswarts train.
The only part I didn't like was how all the Slytherins left. Aren't there any good young Slytherins? As it is, there's just Slughorn, who comes back leading the forces with Charlie Weasley.
The Kreacher story was probably the most touching part for me though. Poor ol'Kreacher just wanted someone to be kind to him again.
Most chilling part? The Ministry chapter.
I don't know how they'll be able to cope with all this in a movie though. Bleh.

For the rest of you who, like me, have finished the books and who are metaphorically tapping your feet, glaring at the other Greecies, and silently willing them to hurry up! so you can have someone else to talk to, I give you a link to The Onion's All Night Harry Potter Blogging Party.

We had a death poll where you could only choose 2 to die and both of my guesses (Neville and Lucius) lived. Talk about a body count! Did they HAVE to start with Hedwig? I HATE it when pets die. Didn't expect Mad-eye to die so soon, never thought about Dobby but his death made sence.
Surprised at the number of loose threads left hanging. SPEW (ok, so it wasn't as important, but barely a mention?), the giants, no appearance of Madame Maxime, Krum not being involved in the final battles, what happened with the Dursleys after (loved Dudly's slight change). Wish they'd met more people's kids on the train (dammit, I wanted Luna and Neville to end up together!)
Loved Mrs. Weasly taking on Bellatrix (anyone get shades of Aliens?), all the backstory on Dumbledore, Lily, and ESPECIALLY Snape. Harry being a Horcux wasn't especially surprising, but the accompanying knowledge about Dumbledore helped balance it. Wish they hadn't killed Lupin and Tonks (especially because during my speedy reading I skimmed right over their deaths and didn't realize until Harry met Lupin with his other loved ones. One line about them being dead? Jeez!), but I did like the parallels between them and Lily, James, and Harry. Loved Neville becoming a professor and killing the snake, although I wish there had been more about the prophesy applying to either him or Harry at one point. Liked the developments with Ron and H (especially Ron leaving), would have liked more of Ginny with that. I too liked Kreacher's redemption, and the description of Luna's room.
AND YEA FOR HAGRID SURVIVING!!!!!!! WHOOHOO!

Oh, forgot to mention how much I loved Hermione for different sections. She was painful not believing in the Hallows and being a stick in the mud over Godric's Hollow, but the magic she knew and her preparation for leaving at any time was just awesome. I'm sad to say I was quite excited at the thought of the two most able wizards of the school heading off to face LV together.

I cracked up when I realised those Death Eaters got their asses handed to them... by Neville's granny.
Yes, where was Madame Maxime? Liked Viktor's reappearance, though.
One gripe - now we're never going to see the Hufflepuff's common room. I bet it's all bright and chirpy with loads of greenery.

No one else hated it? Okay, I'll just go and sit in the corner. Don't get too lonely in that corner! I didn't hate it except for crying Snape otherwise known as "Sev" (gag) and the entire random Lupin-as-whiny-bitch and Tonks love/death story. I didn't love it either. I thought parts really dragged, and it seemed like one big fight after another. I could have done with less Harry and Hermione on the run in a tent looking for Horcruxes. I also can't see Dumbledore's mother being named Kendra.

I have not received my copy of the book yet, but just want to say that I am terribly sad to hear one of the Weasley twins died. They were my favorite characters in the books by far. I'm glad, at least, to be prepared for it before reading, but I had a feeling she'd kill one of them - she had to kill some of the characters off, and couldn't really kill any of the trio, so the death of a twin makes it more dramatic. Still, sadness. Seconded. I'm all about the Weasley twins. (I've always had a soft spot for the class clown.) And what's this about Hedwig? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I don't care about Fred. There, I said it. It was sad, sure, but I was like "Fred died? Aww. Wait... Lupin and Tonks died? NOOOOOO!" I heart Lupin and Tonks. Sniff.
Aw, Snape needs a hug. Well, if he wasn't dead. And, you know, fictional. Molly Weasley kicks ass! Suck it, Bellatrix. Loved the bit about Bellatrix realizing that she had gotten pwned just before she bit it. I'm glad that they didn't make McGonagall evil (I think that was one of the many theories floating around), because she is awesome, and I like that Dumbledore was flawed. Infallible Wise Protectors are boring.
Harry dying-but-not-dying was a bit of a cop-out, but I don't care, because I'm glad he lives. Also, I was surprised at how worried I was that they'd kill off Hermione during the bit at the Malfoy house.
So overall I liked it. Lots of things explained, and I am all about that, even more than the storyline. Only thing I didn't care for was the epilogue - too much cute, not enough substance. I don't need to have it bashed into my head that They All Lived Happily Ever After, and I want to know what everyone is up to, not just the big three (or four, I guess... meh, Ginny).
