Hee! I keep hearing "Avada Kedavra" as sung to the tune of "Hakuna Matada", but I think your version works better. ;D Hey, it could work both ways. One is Voldie's solo, the Hakuna Matata version is Harry's theme.

I always assumed that the muggle phrase "abra ca dabra" was a bastardized, misheard version of "avada kedavra".

It is. This is from a reading/interview/Q&A session she did a few years ago when OotP came out.

I've been reading the books one after the other and am at the point where poor little Dobby has just been killed, "the huge orbs of his eyes full of reflected stars they could no longer see" (or something). I read the first book to Little Duke when it came out and was reading him COS when Harry started hearing voices and Little Duke didn't want to continue (he's read them all since). So I waited until Rowling had wrapped up the series before reading them one after the other. The cumulative effect is awesome.

I did the same thing. I started reading the first at the beginning of June, and finished the sixth about two weeks before the seventh came out. I had a reason- back in the seventies, I was reading a series of books and the author had a heart attack between books. It was like a five year gap (or more) until he wrote the final books of the series.

MrB read them back-to-back in August and could not put them down. One day, I walked into computer room and asked him how he was doing. He replied, "I am doing great except for the fact that SIRIUS JUST DIED!" I thought that he was going to cry! I teared up immediately because I had just seen the movie a couple days before, and it was still fresh on the brain.

I wonder if OJ Simpson read Book 7. He really seems to have connected with that Goblin Logic when it comes to rightful ownership.

I'm re-reading the series for the first time, and find I am enjoying book 5 MUCH more than I did the first time around. Perhaps I'm just more patient now, with the series being complete and all. But WOW, so much that I either missed or blocked out after seeing the movies. The books really do re-read well, although I agree the later ones are SO much better than the first three.

The first two are definitely the weakest, but PoA is in my top two fo sho. Maybe it's because I lurve the Marauders, or maybe because it's a total mind-fuck, but I have to agree with Dwight Schrute: if I were going to be alone on a deserted island, that's the book I would bring.
I liked OotP less upon rereading it. So much of it is just sooo extraneous.
