I don't know where else to put this comment so here goes. Since Covid has been a thing, actresses can't do their usual red carpet posing to promote their movies. But I think it's funny that they get all dressed up in designer gowns and full hair and makeup and just go pose on their front porches, sidewalks, and hotel hallways. The show must go on I guess.

Lainey is 47 years old and, in the latest podcast she does with Sasha, states not only has she never had a mammogram ("I guess I will at some point when I'm old enough"), but didn't even know what it entails until recently. She just sounded so unabashedly ignorant.

She just sounded so unabashedly ignorant. Lainey often writes things that seem meant to place her in a younger generation. Very "Good afternoon, fellow kids." I'm 44 and getting my annual mammogram tomorrow and I don't feel like someone who should be old enough to get one, but I know that I am.

She just sounded so unabashedly ignorant. I never liked Lainey. She was always problematic from my perspective. As a breast cancer survivor, who was diagnosed at 40, and is in her last year treatment, her comment is totally ignorant. I was the first in my immediate and immediate extended family to be diagnosed with breast cancer. I wasn't even high risk. It started developing while I was in my late 30's. Whenever I hear women around my age act as if they don't have to worry, ever, about getting cancer, I want to slap them. The standard of care evolves over time, and I know every doctor uses a different metric, but I had always always planned to start getting mammos at 40. If I had waited until I was 45 or 50, I would be dead. /rant off

I had my first mammogram at 39 and have been getting them on an annual basis since I was 41. My dad had cancer, so I'm always anxious about it. Lainey is an idiot, I agree.

I was the first in my immediate, and extended, family to get breast cancer, but colon cancer is a thing on both sides. My maternal grandfather and paternal uncle died of it. I had always been worried about that possibility. Breast cancer came out of left field because I had always tried taking the best care of myself regarding diet, activity, and keeping on top of annual exams, etc.

I don’t want to seem like I’m defending her in any way, but the Canadian cancer society recommends starting mammograms at 50 years of age. And then every two years.

Man, I just cannot with any of the ~writers at Lainey Gossip. From the head down, it's so clear when they like a celeb - or have a relationship with the celeb's PR.
Latest case in point is Sarah, telling everyone to stop gossiping about John Mulaney:

Oh yes, if a celebrity goes on TV and says his clearly messy mess of a life is not messy, that's all there is to say! Gossip book closed.
This is one of the many reasons why I don't read that site anymore.

Man, straight white men - especially if they are on the nerdy side - really can get away with the worst kind of behavior and still have people cheerleading for them. Anyone who side eyes this situation is in for a scolding from Lainey, TLo, Pajiba, et al. The self-appointed faculty of Internet Pop Culture Studies will protect their faves at all costs.
