I hope it's okay to start this thread, I don't think I've ever started a new one before! Since the gossips are sometimes as newsworthy as the celebs, and we all spend a tonne of time reading them, I felt we needed a place to vent about whether we hate Perez, love Lainey, or get turned on by I Dont Like You In That Way's Angelina background (oh, that's just me?) Speaking of Lainey, I love unconditionally. The layout of her site bugs (how you have to click into each entry separately) but I love her voice, she reads like someone who would be fun to have a drink with and gossip. She's sometimes hit and miss with her exclusives but I like that she has info you can't get anywhere else due to her going on junkets, etc with ETalk. Perez, on the other hand, I can't stand and I have no idea why he become the poster boy for gossip blogs. He doesn't have nearly as many photos as other sites like DListed, he doesn't have any exclusive dirt you can't find elsewhere, and his site takes forever to load due to all the ads. What gives?

I really don't like the super mean-spirited gossip blogs that just post photos of people and snark on how ugly or fat they are or whatever. I want straight-up Hollywood dirt, not the writer's opinion on Jessica Simpson's thighs.
I prefer the sites that post industry gossip as well. Dirt on directors and producers is just as amusing to me as dirt on actors.

I think the Dlisted guy is hilarious. He is much funnier than Perez Hilton.
Perez is a moron, although he can be funny sometimes, usually unintentionally (like when he's ranting about someone who brushed him off at a party and gets all wound up about it).

I was partial to Pink is the New Blog, even though he is in love with Michelle Trachtenburg for some reason. He always has a lot of Britney, and that's good, and makes fun of certain celebs but not in a mean-spirited way. This was before PITNB got firewalled at work. > Now I read A Socialite's Life. Lots o' pictures, in a random order--just the way I like it. I only go to X17 when you guys link to it off of the Britney thread.

DListed is my favorite, due to the frequency of the updates and the generally humorous, snarky tone. The humor can be pretty crude, but is still much better than having Perez drawing penises or lines of coke on the pictures. Dude, that was juvenile to do in the fourth grade, what the hell is wrong with you? [blue]A Socialite's Life[/blue] is another in the "snarky website run by an openly gay commentator" genre. On that spectrum, it is less childish and more "Vogue" than Dlisted or Perez, however it updates rather infrequently.

This is why I don't read Perez. And also, he thinks he's way cooler than he should.

I read the Us Weekly blog a lot. They're pretty on top of things and slightly snarky, but not like Perez, though they sometimes link to each other. Of course, it's no fun to read the magazine when it comes out, then, because I've read most of the stories.

What Would Tyler Durden Do?I like that one. It isn't as fast-moving or plentiful as some others, but the write ups are often surreal and hilarious. Another vote for Dlisted here. It's my favorite.

I check Perez out of nothing but boredom. DListed makes me laugh out loud though. Michael K is hysterical.

I like In Case You Didn't Know if only for the big pretty pictures that come with practically every post, and it is updated fairly regularly. And for those kinda-sorta related to celebrity gossip, I like Pretty On The Outside and Gallery of the Absurd because they take celebrity gossip and turn it into funny pictures. And Planet Hiltron, which morphs/photoshops celebrity faces onto the bodies of "real" people, is usually good for a chuckle.
