Bumping this because of a question-my sister apparently told my mother that Perez is pretty accurate. MY impression is that he's usually full of shit. Which is it?

I think he's full of shit. Honestly, it's hard to tell these days who's full of shit and who's not, mainly because of the prevalence of blind items and the fact that the sites seem to feed off of one another. Also, because celebrities are doing more and more ridiculous shit and it seems like anything could be true.

He's full of shit because I remember he stole a few stories that ONTD had posted once and did not site them.. In fact, I'm not sure who he sited but it wasn't right. I stopped going to his site for gossip.. It really got annoying each photo he used he had to "enhance" it with his signature coke stains on the noses or whatever. Although I'm just a lurker, I loveee ONTD.. I think I enjoy the comments everyone makes there more than the celebrity news. Is it wrong of me to say that I specifically look for posters b/c they always bring the lolz? They're a great community.

It's funny because a year ago Perez was huge. I hated him passionately yet I still went to his site because it was the place to be to get any new photos. But now? I haven't been to Perez since before Christmas. At least. And not because of any boycott, I simply forgot about him completely.

I don't think he ever got any good scoops. He blatently rips off everyone from ONTD to pamie.com to, I think, us. His only claim to fame was his friendship with Paris, which I think was always significantly embellished on his end, and now that he doesn't cover her with fat sloppy kisses anymore all he has left are his drawings of dicks on Lindsay's photos. Lame.

Better to go somewhere else with more and non-graffitied photos. Like DListed, who I love, he's the only one who is not a complete misognistic ass. I still wouldn't link him to my mom but then again, she still thinks I don't ever use the word 'f**k'. Heh.

ETA: My theory is Perez faded into obscurity due to Britney. He just couldn't compete with the immediate updates from TMZ and X17 on her many breakdowns and RiteAid sprees. It's interesting to note that TMZ got really huge last year (Newsweek named TMZ the Breakout Blog of 2007) while Perez has become increasingly less relevant. Why go to his site to look at the photos he ripped off of X17 when you can go to their site and look at them directly? And without white coke dots drawn on the celebs' noses?

For some god awful reason, I found myself one night reading the ENTIRE transcript of Perez and that guy from (i think) x17, and the x17 guy was trying to find a way to get "bad" publicity to make it "good" publicity for him. Perez was telling him to act like someone else and send in a sex tape to a site (think ala Paris or some other stupid spoiled whore), anyway it back fired obviously and that 30 minutes i spent reading what they had talked about in a IM is the most time I have given Perez. I have such a loathing for that site because of all the goddamn Perez banners that float around and try to make him a "good" celeb news source.
