I recently won an item in California and they mailed it out on the 9th [coming to FL] and sent me the tracking #. I just checked it and it's not scheduled to arrive until the 16th! I know it's cross country, but dang, that seems like a long time.

kw, I would put a response to the negative feedback stating "retaliatory negative -- see comments under Item #blahblah." I always read the actual feedback comments when I look at someone's negative rating so do what you can to mitigate the assholery.

Yeah, this. Even semi-experienced eBayers are familiar with the retaliatory neg. Imo it's one of the main problems with the FB system. Innocent people get dinged, and non-innocent ones don't because others are afraid of retaliatory FB.

UGH, I just got negative feedback for... leaving negative feedback! I'm pissed. I've had that happen before. A company sold me a textbook that was an instructors edition despite the fact the ad said it was a student one. They let me return it but wound up not refunding me the whole amount + I was out shipping to return the darned thing. I negged them for not disclosing their return policy & for lying in the add. They negged me back for "being quick to give negative feedback". The best thing to do is the reply to that feedback as stated above. It's such b.s. I wish Ebay monitored feedback and cared about the system.

Yeah, I'm guilty being afraid of jeopardizing my 100% positive feedback. So much so that although I won a sweater, paid for it within hours, never received it and never received any response to messages for the item, I never left feedback. I'm a wuss.

Unfortunately, it looks like the seller's since disappeared. She took herself off ebay about two months after the sale. Oddly enough, she had a pretty good rating herself. The only complaints were that she sometimes took her time shipping things. So I guess six months later she's still wrapping my sweater...

Ebay is revamping their feedback system, according to the message that I got in the "My Messages" section of My Ebay.
"In addition to the current positive, negative, or neutral comment, buyers will now be able to rank, on a scale of 1-5, four key aspects of a transaction: accuracy of item description, communication, shipping time, and shipping and handling charges. -snip- After a seller receives 10 of these rankings, the average scores will appear as a series of stars under a new section on the Feedback Profile page titled "Detailed Seller Ratings. -snip- Also, the item title and price will appear next to each Feedback comment. This will add helpful information for shoppers and encouragement to those in the market for what you sell."
Sounds like it might help clarify things and prevent retaliatory feedback?
