Checking on Miss P- this is pretty much the highlight of my Halloween every year, since I suck at costumes!

Sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln, but she was cute last year! Of course, she's cute 24/7/365, but you know what I meant.

Checking on Miss P- this is pretty much the highlight of my Halloween every year, since I suck at costumes! This year, she is going as Merida from Brave. Lucky for me, she decided that it would be okay to use the costume that I made for her birthday. Brave Girl. Better pic of the costume. This was a *fun* costume to make. Completely self-drafted!

Thank you for indulging me, traffic. She is adorable, and that is an excellent costume. It looks like she really loves it, too.
It's like I want to hate you for your amazing costuming skills, but I just can't.
Jealous, party of 1.

I love making costumes. But once again, a Halloween arrives with my sewing machine in storage... ::sigh::

I absolutely adored that cartoon! Great choice by the diva kids.
My girls have their costumes picked out for this year.
Lulu is going a Batman, which is really a surprise. She has been so into the princess thing since she was two, but in the last month she has become fascinated by Batman. I'm actually relieved that she sees herself as a strong, kick-ass chick who could totally fight for justice.
Lyssa is going as a "boo-ghost." Since I can't find a ready-made ghost ensemble for a two-year-old, I bought a package of white pillow cases in which I will make head and arm holes. I will tie some twine around her waist, and I have a cute skull flashlight for her to carry.

Batgirl is going as Goth Tinkerbell (or as I call it, Tinkerbell: the Sullen and Rebellious Teen Years). I've basically recreated her dress in black velvet and organza, have black pompoms to sew on her black boots (Goth tinkerbell doesn't wear dainty flats; she wears boots), and we have black fairy wings.
We've made a little bun out of a black wig that I'll clip into Batgirl's short hair. I'll use pastels to streak her bangs black with some purple and where her honey coloured hair shows through? Goth Tinkerbell is too moody for regular roots touch-ups.

So you all know that Miss P went as Princess Merida for Halloween. What I didn't mention was that I was making a costume for ratscabies as well. We did the family Halloween theme this year - Brave. King Fergus, Queen Elinor, Princess MeridaKing Fergusratscabies was a trooper. His costume was made the day before Halloween and for the most part was held together with saftey pins and prayer. Matter of fact, when we arrived home from trick or treating and got out of the car (we T or T'd at his niece's college), his 'kilt' fell down. Yeah, it was funny as hell. Even Miss P (who had been dozing in the backseat) pointed and laughed. Good thing he was wearing something underneath!
