I flipped through a slide-show this morning of offensive Halloween costumes found across the Internet thus far this year - sexy ISIS militants, 'gang-bangers', Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson (complete with props), Trayvon Martin, and Sandy Hook victims... Really truly ruined my morning, some people are inappropriate and others make me just... horribly sad. The Trayvon and Sandy Hook costumes in particular.

Me as a Minion at the Company Halloween Party last week. My co-worker is Cleopatra, and the movie on the giant screen is The Shining. It was at two doctors' home in Newport Beach, and they spared no expense. Taco Truck, DJ, Doll Room of Horrors, bartenders, photo booth, cemetary, lots and lots of fog. People with money are fun! (in case it's attached, the other photos on that Flickr are from Big Brother this summer.)

Last spring, one of divaspawn1's friends got dumped by his girlfriend two weeks before the prom. Ds1 asked her date (who is one of friend's besties) whether he thought they could invite friend along to prom with them. Date/Boyfriend enthusiastically created a scavenger hunt prom-posal to invite friend to join them. The pictures of the three of them are hilarious and they had a great time.
So now, they've decided to do a Halloween trio costume. Ds1 is wearing "galaxy" print jeans and a sparkly top and is going as the universe. Boyfriend is Carl Sagan and Friend is Neil deGrasse Tyson. Another friend may or may not join them as Bill Nye the Science Guy. They better take pictures.
(Also, ds1 informed me today that the official senior girls' costume was "Risky Business"--oversized mens' dress shirts over short shorts and white knee socks. Ugh on so many levels...)

The costumes were a hit, and I'm so glad to be done with Halloween. I've already told the girls that next year they are going to have to pick costumes "off the rack" because I am not good enough at this crafty stuff to make this a regular thing.

Today we went to the Wizard World Comic Con in Pittsburgh. We got photos with Adam Baldwin and Jewel Staite of Firefly (adam is currently making TrafficChick swoon on Last Ship), and autographs and pics with Mitch Pileggi of Asst Director Skinner fame. She is floating on air with her TV boyfriend lust inflamed. And she did it all in this year's Halloween costume, Xena:Warrior Princess!We are still trying to convince MissP to ber her Gabrielle... |
