Well, we got maybe 30 kids. We usually get a ton more. We sat outside, masked and blanketed, and encouraged kids to take 2 bars so we didn’t end up with a ton leftover (we still did though).

We got 6 kids, which is 6 more than we had last year. We passed out full-size Hershey bars and glow sticks.

We had about 50 kids (we usually get 150 or so). We bought 100 KitKat bars. MrF was worried that we'd run out, nope, he still has a bunch for himself.
I had a big bowl with maybe a dozen bars, and we'd hold it out. We wore masks and costumes.
My first kid was about 2. I bent down holding the bowl of KitKats and she reached out to take the whole bowl.
It was really fun.
MrF asked the kids if there were many people giving out candy, and they said no. I'm glad we did. By wearing masks and having the kids take their candy out of the bowl, it seemed as safe as shopping in a store, and we were all outside.

We got maybe 17 or 18 small groups of kids. In normal times will usually have around 50 groups, maybe a few more. I made little baggies of candy and we put them on the table. Mr. Tanyak stayed here all evening. He moved the fire pit to the driveway and set up his chair. He wasn’t masked, but he was several feet away from the table and was just there to greet the kids and their parents.
I took Little Mr. Tanyak, who’s 10, and two of his friends. One of the moms came along. I believed things would be slower this year, but I frankly was a bit surprised about how few houses were participating. Especially since I had read on Next Door that different neighborhoods would be celebrating. We drove to four neighborhoods, and they probably went to 20 houses total. In the past, 20 houses would’ve been just part of one neighborhood. But the boys had a really good time and they still came away with a huge haul. I think people figured out they weren’t going to get many trick-or-treaters so they started being extra generous.
When we got back home, we had a few more trick-or-treaters and I started giving them multiple bags as well. I had so much candy left! The other mom works in a medical office so she’s still going into work. I gave her a ton of baggies to take since she’s still going into an office and can leave them in the break room.

My cousin is stay-at-home mom. Her husband is a youth minister. They are evangelical Christians. In fact, my cousin did not celebrate Halloween growing up because it was demonic. They’re about 40.
Their Halloween costumes:
Older girl: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Younger girl: Statue of Liberty Mom: Rosie the Riverter Dad and little boy: matching Teddy Roosevelts
They live in North Carolina.
Am I wrong in reading this as a political statement? I know TR was a Republican, but his policies and beliefs do not resemble today’s party of Trump.

I dressed up as a fisherman Sasqquatch for work. My co-workers had some good costumes this year. We had a Riddler, a Dr. Strange, and my friend who was the tortoise carrying the hair on his back to the finish line. I think next year I will go for something more feminine though.

We had about 40 kids. Twix outdid Snickers by far! I had a folding table in the driveway, as did the next two houses down, so very festive with lit decorations and Halloween tunes!

I strung up treats on a game thingie. It has three horizontal bars so I tied loops of string and taped about 15 treats on each bar. Kids were told to pluck a few. My neighbor had a candy shute all set up that she was thrilled to use (I would have loved to but my front door is at grade).
We put up our shelter, got out the new propane heater and sat around with a few neighbors drinking. Basically another Covid Saturday night but we went later.
When our kids were little we used to meet for dinner at someone's house then trick-or-treat en masse and it became one of my friends habits to bring mulled wine to put in coffee mugs for the journey. This year the mulled wine was enjoyed under the tent.

Halloween!
I picked up mega candy yesterday. We usually give out the super sized Kit Kat’s, but I can’t find them this year anywhere, except Amazon for 4 times the regular cost.
So I got regular sized Kit Kats. And a ginormous bag of assorted fun sized candies. I tried a few of the fun sized (whoopers anyone?) and they sucked.
So the entire bag is going by the handful along with the Kit Kat’s.
Anyway, Trick or Treat is supposed to be tomorrow, but kids are already hitting the house.
After the sad Trick or Treat of Covid 2020, I don’t mind if the kids want to hit houses two days in a row.

We had a good turnout this year. It was definitely normal in the hood, but we had more kids due to a) more kinds in the neighbourhood and b) great weather (My little cull-de-sac is always cut from the route when the weather is bad). We sat out side around a firepit - four households - and handed out candy. I still have an unopened box left and my good and bad sides are debating what to do with it.
