This isn't car care necessarily, but more car buying/advice. Hubby and I are in looking to buy a new small suv/crossover this month and the Chevy Equinox is currently at the top of our list. Do any greecies have any experience with the Equinox, or know anyone else that does?

smitten, I'm not familiar with it but here is a link to reviews from Edmunds. There are reader reviews as well, so you can read opinions from owners.

I've been all over that site the past couple weeks. I went on their forums too, and saw a bunch of negativity, including transmission issues, which made me nervous about the car for the first time. I don't know those people though! So thought I'd check in with the Greecies too. Sunnyhorse, that's really good to know.

I have a question for Greecies who have cars with tan/beige interior.
I purchased a pre-owned Ford Edge this weekend and this is my first time owning a car with beige interior. It is also my first time with beige leather seats. What is the best way to clean the floorboard and do I need to put something on the leather? Scotchguard?

Ooh, I can't wait to hear how you like the Edge. It's on my list with the CR-V.

Last night I drove over a huge pothole. Rear end sunk so much into it I heard something cracked. I checked & nothing seemed wrong w/ the body, but 2 hours later I couldn't start my Nissan Altima. Has anyone heard of this happening before? The tow driver said he'd had a guy in a BMW with a similar experience.

Oil pan? Did the car run rough or hot after you hit it?

Oil pan? Did the car run rough or hot after you hit it? No, it didn't. Once I turned it off, that was the last time my baby ran. I think it cut the brake line because the brake was depressed when I got in. The car didn't recognize I was pressing on the brake & wouldn't ignite the engine. ETA: Dealership found I'd broken the brake pedal switch. All fixed. Covered by the warranty. Yay!

Ooh, I can't wait to hear how you like the Edge. It's on my list with the CR-V. OK, let's dish. I have owned my Edge for two weeks now, and it is awesome. The best vehicle that I have ever owned. It drives like a dream, handles like a car, but I have the cargo space for groceries, basset hounds, luggage, and baseball gear (which is what I use mine for). I drive it everywhere, even to the neighbors house! You have a lot of different options in accessories. For instance, since I work part-time and using mine for kid carting, I needed rear vents (the kids used to melt in the backseat in our Xterra in the Alabama summer) leather (for easy spill clean up), and a mounted DVD player. My friend ordered a new Limited yesterday and she is a realtor so she needed the navigational system and dark leather, because she would have so many clients in and out. But she is paying a lot of money for hers, around 35 grand. I test drove one with the panoramic sunroof and I always thought that I would like it, but I really didn't. Again, with the Alabama heat, I think that I would not like the sun shining down on me- it was much bigger than your typical sunroof. But the heated seats in mine are nice on cold mornings when I am in shorts. I took Baxter to the vet and he had plenty of space in the back. The tan interior is taking some getting used to- the floorboards get dingy quick, so I ordered some Nifty Catch All floor mats because the original floor mats were worn out. These Nifty are supposed to prevent the outer parts of your floorboards from getting nasty- like when your floor under the mats is pristine, but when you remove them, you have a mat ring. Confession: I am a little Type A about my car (shocker!). I get teased a lot but when I sold the Xterra a couple of weeks ago, interested buyers kept saying, "It looks like you have taken really good care of your car." And we had six different people interested in buying it! Speaking of, highly HIGHLY recommend cars.com. We got $2500 more for the Xterra selling it private party than what CarMax wanted to give us. As for gas, I am paying $55/gal right now, which blows but it is a V6 and it is a little better on gas than the Xterra was. Well, I wrote a novel, but I HTH!
