Thanks, Sunnyhorse. Got any suggestions for a name? I think naming it would help me feel more comfortable. Yes, I'm a dork. If anyone is interested in suggesting a name, here is my car; it's black.

How about "Pete"? I dunno, that car just looks like a "Pete" to me.

Pete? Hmm, I know a pete who is an asshole, so I'm not sure that will work.
I'm thinking Mr. Darcy, or maybe Fitzwilliam (Darcy's first name). I could use a Mr. Darcy in my life right now.
Besides, how many cars are named Fitzwillaim?

My friend Milla is, like, the Idiot Savant of Car Naming. She actually used to take email requests from people. I'm not a car person, per se. However, I almost always name my cars. My first was a primer-gray Datsun B210, called The Putt, because I think most lawn mowers had more power. You could see the street through the rotted rust-holes in the floorboard. My second car was never named, but it was a white Mitsubishi Mirage, my first Real, Decent, Good Car, paid for All By Myself. The Husband-Type Man and I had the Yuppiemobile for quite a few years, a green Camry. Then we got Dita, a black Audi. When I moved back here for school, I got Adam, a Toyota Corolla (yes, I know the names're spelled differently), but Adam was a quick-fix transportation device... he's a bit of a bone-shaker. So I'm trading him in this month for a black BMW convertible, already dubbed Alanis. Toph, whodda thunk you and I would have anything in common...?

Here I thought I was the only dork who named her cars. I tend to name cars after other people and give them names that match their country of origin.
My BMW was named Bernt. Bernt was a character in my high school German textbook that all the other kids picked on. In one chapter all the kids went to a party where they told Bernt is jokes were stupid, then stole his hamburger and his room-temperature grape Fanta. I almost named my car Jens - who was the cool kid everyone liked and he looked like Kevin Bacon - but somehow "Bernt" just fit better.
My current car (the Galant) is named Morimoto - yes, after the Iron Chef. I chose that because of the Japan/US connection (the Galant a Japanese car manufactured in the US, Morimoto a Japanese chef who works in the US...yes, I realize how incredibly lame that is).

"Fitz" would be a great name for a car, Magazinewhore. ETA: I may be biased, though, 'cause Fitz was my favorite "West Wing" character ever. EATA: Mr. Sunnyhorse and I would be grateful for suggestions for a name for our Mini. We've been racking our brains trying to come up with something Eddie Izzard-related -- so far Mr. Sunnyhorse has vetoed my suggestions of "Slut Bunwalla" and "le President de Burundi."

How about "covered in Bees!" Or "Ciao!" They're not names, I know. Give me time, some Izzardism will come to me. What about Sebastian? As in when he's talking about movies, "What are you doing in here, Sebastian?" "Um, nothing. Just moving these books around."
I, like kostgard, like foreign names. One of my cats is named Claude. It's just funny.
So far, Fitz is the front-runner.
My previous car was named Angel, because just as I got it, a friend got me a name tag that said, "Hi, my name is...Angel." and we stuck it on the car's back bumper.
