And thank y'all for the compliments on the knitting. It's all one stitch at a time, and for some reason works with my total lack of patience. Perhaps I just like sweaters ;D. I watch a lot of TV while knitting, and I take it with me to band practice. Oddly enough, the possession of tiny sharp spikes of bamboo or steel has a contradictory effect on me - it makes me NOT want to kill the lameoid in my section. (The guy's been playing for 20 plus years and sucks like an Electrolux, and he reminds me of T-Bag from "Prison Break.") Spordelia, I have a sneaking suspicion that you hugely underestimate your patience level! Your stuff is just too good *and* complex for it to be the product of an impatient person. I would sooooo love to knit because I think it would be very therapeutic but I'm pretty sure I lack the talent. I picked up crocheting when I was small and during one of my many, very lengthy hospital stays. But I never managed more than endlessly long thin.... ribbons (??), if that's what they were. Of course, I was 6-11 yrs old at the time but, still, I just didn't have the patience or innate skill to go further. So, my hat's off to you. I'm pretty much awed by what you can do with some needles and yarn! In recent years, my main hobby used to be Schutzhund but it was hard to keep up, given my anxiety issues, since it demands so much daily, intense training. So I only did it off and on. Then Kafka got Lupus and part of his condition requires being out of the sun for as much as possible. Like that's possible in bloody.... TEXAS! Prior to that, I did a lot of photography and some painting as well. I sold a few pieces of each, but it was nothing like the talent demonstrated here. I also was very involved in Backgammon tourneys. Backgammon has been a passion since childhood and, if I do say so myself, I'm pretty damn good at it. In fact, spectacularly good at it. Heh. But it too fell by the wayside of my weird life and anxiety attacks. My hobby now? Cooking. And this board. (Seriously. It's both disturbing and embarassing at times. ;D)

Bossyboots, those quilts are wonderful! Please tell me you've sold them at craft fairs or something....I know I'd buy them!
Spordelia, if that's the knitting end result of an impatient person, I can only imagine what you would do if you were patient! My friend has recently taken up knitting and it took her forever just to knit a small mitten. She was explaining to me the complexities of the thumb portion and my head was spinning. Then I look at your stuff, and wow! You are really skilled!

Hobbies? I have no hobbies. I write, but writing is like this weird obsession akin to living and breathing, so I can't really call it a hobby (yeah I know you look at my bad grammar and my mispellings and think..no way is she a writer, but yeah I am). Other than that I research anything and everything. Study study study. If it wasn't for the Internet I'd go completely insane because I'd be so starved for information. Sometimes I feel like Johnny Five, "Must have more input".
I wish I could be a photographer. My little digital camera is just not good enough and I'm not the most dexterous person so, photography is only a dream.
When I lived in NM, Astronomy (apart from writing) was my true love. I know the night sky like the back of my hand. The fall sky is my favorite though. I love the Pleiades (I swear that's where I come from) and Orion and the Hyads. Of couse my true love is a star called Antares in Scorpius. I see that star and my heart just...goes pitty pat. Yes. I am in love with a star. Before I moved to cloudy, low altiude Massachusetts I had been known to spend hours just watching Antares move across the sky. Yes. Yes. I am a weird person. Can't help it. My other obession is Jupiter. Don't ever get me started on Jupiter because then I'll never shut up.
ETA: I am so excited about Red Spot Jr. You know about Red Spot Jr? SOOOO COOL!

I actually don't sell them...I couldn't sell them for enough to compensate for the cost of materials and my time. Plus, to me, the quilts are so precious and take so much time and work that I'd rather give them as a really special gift, or keep them for our walls. In any case, I've got more than enough projects lined up for the next while to keep me too busy to even think of making them to sell. Besides, it's more fun to make them for someone I know.

Boss, are you sure you don't want to sell them? You could probably sell those for a few hundred bucks, at least.

I think so too, Bossy. You'd be surprised how much they'd probably go for at a craft show or on ebay.

I like to do hand embroidery and I'd LOVE to be able to sew, but alas, I have no sewing machine and no means to buy one right now.
I also like to make those, er, cartoon dolls.

Thanks so much, guys. Like I said, maybe sometime down the road. I've got a major backlog of projects for family/friends to get through first, including but not limited to: - mr. bossy's 40th birthday quilt (bday was last sept. oops). Needs 2 borders and then I am hand quilting it. - my nephew M's next quilt. The niece/nephews are in a quilt rotation -- I make about 1 a year and he's next up. I hope to get it done for his 2nd birthday in June but that's looking less likely. This[/color] is his baby quilt. - the quilt top from the 30s that my great-aunt pieced by hand. I had no idea this existed until last Christmas when my uncle gave it to me. I will be hand quilting this, too. - 2 quilts that are overdue Christmas presents (delay not mine!) -- will be wall-hanging sized. Recipients split up, now they each have to give me paint chips so I can make sure their quilt(s) blend in with the décor. My other problem is that once I've made a quilt, I don't want to let it go. I buy fabric because I love it, and if I make a quilt from it and then the quilt goes away, I don't get to admire the fabric anymore. We quilters are very very weird about our fabric!

My hobby is sweepstaking. Sounds weird I know, but I've won some great suff. I've gone on trips I never would have been able to afford. I've won a good amount of stuff over the past 4 years including an ipod, mp3 players, gift cards, concert tickets, and some other random stuff. I'm always on the lookout for sweeps at stores.
