Breakfast yesterday was a mini tortilla with some melted cheese and oregano, topped with scrambled eggs and a light drizzle of ranch dressing.
Lunch was another mini tortilla filled with tuna salad.
Dinner was a baked potato topped with a mix of flavored cream cheese (red pepper and herbs), shredded chicken, and green onions, with some brussels sprouts on the side.

I'm back on the healthy eating bandwagon... I feel like I announce that every few months, ha. I'm not really limiting the types of food I eat - well, I'm cutting out sugar and junky snacks, I guess - but am limiting portion sizes and paying attention to calories and all that. At least for a few months! But I'll still be having bacon and wine and all that sometimes, because otherwise, why eat, right? Breakfast: Ezekiel flax cereal with milk. Irish Breakfast Tea with milk. The cereal is like Grape Nuts... but blander. Heh. I had it earlier in the week with raspberries (God bless California!) and it was much better that way. Morning snack was an apple, and a coffee with nonfat milk. Lunch was a frozen Trader Joe's Paneer Tikka Masala. I normally don't like to buy frozen meals as they are quite wasteful, but this one is decent and I wanted to have a few things around for emergencies or easy situations. I was starving when I got home, so it was perfect today. It's funny - when I'm actually really hungry, I almost think I eat less sometimes, because you notice you are full faster! I normally would bulk it up with some more veggies, or something on the side, but I was way hungry and lazy. Afternoon snack was a Babybel, and a bit later a small serving of Nature's Path Multibran Flax Cereal with milk. Dinner was about half a chicken breast, seasoned with Herbes de Provence and salt, sauteed. Also, sauteed kale, and some artichoke ravioli. Paying attention to portions sizes isn't really that fun - it was like 4 ravioli! They are big, but still. Lame-o. Oh and I had a glass of Tempranillo.

I spent the weekend with the boyfriend. We're both watching our dollars so we didn't want to spend too much money eating out. Dinner at his place on Friday night was ham, cheese and heirloom tomato sandwiches on Dave's Killer Bread. I put together a salad with romaine and Caesar dressing with some homemade croutons.
Saturday morning I made scrambled eggs with ham and more heirloom tomato on the side. We ate lunch out at a Mexican place where I had fish tacos. We ended up my place on Saturday and were too full for dinner so we just snacked on crackers and cheese. I wanted to bake so I made some lemon cookies. I had planned to make lemon bars but screwed up the recipe and managed to turn it into cookies instead.
For late breakfast/early lunch I made chilaquiles and beans. We split a slice of wood-fired pizza with red peppers, olives and sopressata at the Sunday street market where I scored some fun stuff, including a mini sweet potato pie. Yum! Dinner was a quesadilla with leftover ground beef and pintos. Not the healthiest eating weekend but it sure was tasty.

I treated myself today -- brocolli and onions, teriyaki chicken, ribeye steak, and Trader Joe's salted caramel butter cookies and dark chocolate pretzal thins. I was most excited about the brocolli however.

I'm on a pb&j kick these days. Fortunately, I'm just about out of jelly, so I can stop soon. The stuff's not ideal for my diet. Dinner last night was a baked potato, topped with broccoli and smoked chicken breast mixed in a light gouda cheese sauce. Delicious, especially with the herbed red pepper cream cheese that I mixed into the sauce.

Oh man, I had a sad little dinner yesterday and am drooling over all your eats. Breakfast was a bowl of Nature's Path Flax Multigrain cereal with milk, and Earl Grey with milk. I'm obsessed with the 1% from my favorite local dairy! Snack was an apple. Lunch was a turkey and havarti sandwich on multigrain. I was so starving all afternoon! I guess starting the day with a carb, and then working out (hour long walk, 1/2 hour on treadmill, Body Pump) make you hungry. I had a few more bowls of cereal and milk throughout the afternoon - small ones, but still. For dinner I just wanted more cereal, but I made myself cook. I had a piece of Alaskan Cod from I Love Blue Sea that I had taken out of the freezer. I'd planned to make the best fish tacos in the world with it but am trying to keep myself from buying too many groceries, so I just baked it with lemon and salt and pepper. SO BORING. I ended up putting some sweet chili sauce on top, which wasn't really a great match. It had lots of little bones in it, too, and I could barely get through it, had to make myself eat most of it. Can't waste a good piece of fish. Luckily I had on the side some Israeli couscous (my new obsession - I just need to find a whole wheat version locally! this was the regular white flour kind, but it's soo good) and some roasted green beans topped with my favorite chunky sea salt. I swear a few of those green beans tasted exactly like a McDonalds french fry! Had a glass of tempranillo with it all.

Breakfast today: A luna bar and a banana. I went for an hour long trail run this morning, and I needed to eat afterwards, but I couldn't handle a full on meal...so this was my compromise. Snack: A honeycrisp apple from the market. Lunch: Homemade Black Bean soup, with cilantro and avocado. Trader Joe's BBQ Chicken Pizza. Fruit smoothie, made with Kefir. Snack: Two chocolate truffles.. Dinner: Minestrone, made with whole wheat pasta.

I've been hooked on almond butter and pumpkin butter sandwiches the last few days. Yum! For breakfast I ate Heritage Flakes cereal (my absolute favorite). Snack was a fig bar and an apple. My lunch (which will be much later, thanks to tasty snacks) will probably be the aforementioned sandwich. I also have some nonfat yogurt with honey and blueberries in the fridge. I may pass the sandwich up and have the yogurt instead.
My friend's mom is visiting from New Jersey and she made potato pancakes for us last night. We ate a bunch of them with applesauce and sour cream. They were delicious but this morning I woke up feeling so full but hungry.

The Italian mother-in-law is arriving this afternoon, so yesterday was spent in a cleaning frenzy, so the pb&j sandwich I had in the morning lasted me all day, outside of a few forkfuls of some leftover coleslaw. Dinner, though, was a lovely meal of leftover broccoli and Brussels sprouts that I pan cooked in some olive oil and a bit of water to steam through and then topped with some grated parmeggiano cheese. I served that with lean pork chops that I cut in strips and marinated in a mix of fish sauce, ketjap manis, sweet chili sauce, and lemongrass powder. That was cooked up and served over a bit of couscous. The MIL is bringing a bag of food that weighs 7 kilos, so I think tonight we'll be having some sort of fresh pasta with a sauce made with truffles and mushrooms. So much for cutting back on carbs.
