We don't have any of those employee designations at our shop. We're in a Macy's; the door is always open.
I sold an "Oceany Flutter" quartet today and won a bottle of the discontinued-but-being-brought-back bath foam "Flying Saucers". I ordered two bottles of it anyway, but I love the way it smells. We got three of each of the discon items in the shop to display, and I asked our manager the other day why we weren't giving out samples to everyone to increase interest in ordering them. So she comes up with this contest. So, I think the contest is lame myself - like "yay" for me because I won something, but I'd rather give samples out to the public. I gave out lots of soap samples today; I offer one to everybody.

I wish my store offered samples. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars there over the past three and a half years, and I haven't ever been offered a sample! I have asked for three samples in that whole time, but I felt bad about doing so.
However, I have gotten a ton of free products (mainly bath bombs) for spending all the money, so at least there's something.

India is the KEYMASTER! That is AWESOME. Have you ever seen Ghostbusters with the Keymaster and the Gatekeeper? If you start running around Central Park like a dog, then we'll know what kind of Keymaster you are!

LaconicChick, your store DOES offer samples, hon! All Lush stores offer samples - and they're totally remiss for not offering them to you. And if they don't offer, ask! And if you ask - don't feel guilty! Hell, the company wouldn't send us three different kinds of sample cups if were weren't supposed to give them away - you have nothing to feel bad about.
There was this lady in our store on Sunday, and she was kind of getting into a mental spiral about what kind of skin care to get, whether to get it, and in the long run, she was just ready to give up on trying to figure it out. So based on her skin type, which was exactly like mine, I gave her samples of Gorgeous, Celestial, Eauroma Toner Water, and AoBS. And she felt guilty, and was all "Oh, no no, I feel so bad, you don't have to." But samples are a huge part of what helps the customer decide what works for them. It's what helps them come back and make a purchase and fall in love with our stuff. My very first step ever to becoming a die hard Lushie was two years ago when someone handed me a sample as I walked by the store. So don't feel bad about it - just ask for them, because unless they don't have sample cups behind the register at your store, LC, then they should be giving them out. With a smile. And they should be offering them to YOU.

I asked for a sample of a moisturizer once at the State Street/Macy's LUSH, and the girl just opened the tester and swabbed some out onto my hand. I felt kind of stupid after that, so I never asked again. I ended up just buying the moisturizer and not liking it, too -- grrr.

Then you say, "Look, I know you have sample containers that you can fill so that I can try this at home. Can you put a small amount in one so that I can use it for a couple of days? Thanks." Some people, especially when it comes to facial care, would rather sample out one of the moisturizers than spend $20-85 on something they might end up returning if/when it doesn't do what they need it to. I don't have a problem with that. I even give samples to people who say they're just browsing. Customer service goes a long way. I'm sure the folks in Christian Dior aren't handing out anything, unless it's a squirt of something expensive from a fancy bottle.

Well, I've got my usual PMS induced mega breakout, and I'm almost out of AoBS, so I think I have a good excuse to go to Lush today. I think I'll try Aquamarina this time and I'll ask for a smple of Fresh Farmacy (since no, my store doesn't offer samples automatically). Maybe a bathbomb too, to reward myself once this research assignment is finished.
