I don't think I've ever microwaved a dog, but only because I'm the weirdo who chopped up dogs and puts them in my baked beans and mac & cheese. I've found Lightlife works quite nicely for these purposes.

I love, love, love Trader Joe's "Chicken-less Pulled Chicken". That is all.

Taken out of context, your last post could be very disturbing, LAX. I made portobello tacos for dinner tonight and they were delish. I used this recipe that I found in an issue of Vegetarian Times.

I recently found ModCloth that has a decent supply of (actually pretty cute!) shoes that have made-made uppers. Not all of them are - check the product descriptions, but I did buy four pairs and I've been happy with them so far.

My MIL wants to have us over for dinner on New Year's Day, and to her credit, she's really trying to accommodate Daughter #1's veganism and Daughter #2's vegetarianism. This is the conversation she had with Mr.S, however:
Her: I'm going to make a pot of beans. Him: *inwardly sighing, because he's tried repeatedly to convince her that vegetarians eat stuff besides beans* Fine, Mum. What's the recipe? Her: Worcestershire sauce - Him: Um, no can do. That stuff has anchovies. Her: Oh. Well, I can substitute barbeque sauce. This one has honey - Him: That'd be okay for Daughter #2, but not Daughter #1. Her: Okay, this one doesn't have any honey. I'll use that. Then, I'll dump in a few cans of pork and beans. Him: *stunned silence* Um, Mum? Her: What? Him: PORK and beans? Her: Oh, that's what they call it, but there's no actual pork in the can. Him: Read the ingredients, Mum. Her: Well, son-of-a-gun - there's bacon in this! I never knew that!
Oy. This should be an interesting dinner.

Not that it's necessarily the best option, but if it's the only way to guarantee your daughters don't accidentally get served off-limits food. Reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons with Paul and Linda McCartney where she says she started her own line of vegetarian food because "with the other brands, you'd be surprised how often you'd find a big hunk of pork in them!"

Well, my MIL has her heart set on "making" the dish in question (although frankly I think that opening up a few cans of beans isn't exactly home cookin'). Daughter #1 has decided to take two dishes herself - one savoury, one sweet - that way she knows she and her sister will have SOMETHING there they can eat.

Maybe pass along this nutloaf recipe. I've been meaning to try it, because it looks so tasty! Although I suspect your daughter's idea of bringing dishes is probably the best and safest bet!

That nutloaf recipe looks AMAZING. My daughter made a "neatloaf" the other day that tasted a lot like the real deal - it was delish. She cooks dinner once or twice a week and has so many recipes to try that she has yet to repeat herself after about six months. (Which is a problem, because I REALLY want that neatloaf again.)
