Can I join too? I like to consider myself 95% vegetarian. ( I do eat chicken maybe once or twice a month). I don't eat eggs or fish or any other meats. Do you guys take any supplements? I recently started taking Iron tablets, and I have noticed I feel alot more energetic. I wish I could find a veg cookbook that had delicious recipes that did not use egg as an ingredient.

I'm not a vegetarian, but there is a blog I love to visit, Bittersweet Blog, which is written by a vegan baker. She has some cool vegan baking recipes on the site. For those who are feeling dry, try to use more olive oil in your cooking. It does wonders for your whole body. Ask Oxy, I bet she and her family have amazing skin. Those lucky Mediterraneans! **shakes fist at Irish heritage, recoils from sun

I was gonna say our skin's "like buttah" but that would be the wrong analogy. But I will concur that lots of olive oil in your diet will definitely help with skin moisturizing. Most of the people in my family have great complexions with very few wrinkles, and don't look their age despite spending lots of time in the sun. I just hope I uphold that tradition myself.

Not to defend Bush, but that quote is out of context.
He was trying to say that there were no Nelson Mandela-types in Iraq because Saddam had so viciously stifled any opposition.
"Part of the reason why there is not this instant democracy in Iraq is because people are still recovering from Saddam Hussein's brutal rule. I thought an interesting comment was made when somebody said to me, I heard somebody say, where's Mandela? Well, Mandela is dead, because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas. He was a brutal tyrant that divided people up and split families, and people are recovering from this. So there's a psychological recovery that is taking place. And it's hard work for them. And I understand it's hard work for them. Having said that, I'm not going the give them a pass when it comes to the central government's reconciliation efforts."
And now, I must go preform penance for defending Bush.

Yeah, I knew there must be some kind of context to it (at least I hoped there was), but it's still pretty illustrative. I may change it to something equally stupid but less defendable. Now back to bean sprouts...

Walnuts are supposed to be a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. This recipe for Maple Glazed Walnuts from Ellie Krieger looks really good.

Flax oil supplies Omega acids. You can also use coconut oil or hemp oil. I hate the taste of flax and hemp and thus use coconut. I take a tablespoon every day. I also keep a jar for moisturizing only and apply it to elbows, knees, hands, and even feet.
I've also found that cooking with olive oil helps my skin. Some people use olive oil as a moisturizer too.
One other thing I do is take a multi-vitamin and biotin, which helps skin, hair, and nails. Dry skin can be a side effect of a vegetarian diet. It was worse when I was a vegan.
ETA: Coconut oil doesn't supply Omega acids, but it still seems to help my skin.

Thanks for the dry skin tips, guys! I was thinking eating more avocados would help, too, no? (woot, guacamole, here I come ).

Avocados are going to be hugely expensive in the near future. The terrible fires in California last fall wiped out huge portions of the domestic avocado crop.
