When I was an OR Tech in the Navy, we had a Lieut. Commander head of anesthesiology who was a big Python fan, as a lot of us techs were. He recorded their albums onto cassette tapes for me. Anyway, he was in one of the rooms on a routine case, the patient was well under and doing fine, and his beeper went off. I was circulating that case and had something set up with another tech. It was the kind of beeper he could get a voice message on, and when it went off during the surgery he said something like, "Huh, wonder who that could be?" And I said, "I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition." The doc turns on his message and the tech calling from the phone in the front office goes, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

"And now, a man with two noses."
"We did that one already!"
"And now, a man with nine legs."
"He ran away!"
"And now, a Scotsman on a horse!"
Or the flying sheep... "Notice how they do not so much fly as plummet."...*baa baa baa THUD*
I love them so much. I still have a little crush on Michael Palin.

Palin seems like the nicest, most normal of the Pythons. I don't really have a favorite, though.

I've always had a soft spot for "Hitler in Minehead". The shot of von Ribb-sorry, Ron Vibbentrop- cranking the gramophone with the creepiest smile ever was great.
I also like Palin's continuous newscasting for 'Spectrum' throughout that same episode. "Where do we stand? Where do we sit? Where do we come? Where do we go?" I, a lifelong fast talker, am in awe of how he managed to say all that clearly at breakneck speed.
The funniest joke in the world isn't real German, is it?

HAHAHA...I usually use that line in relation to my skiing abilities. It's pretty descriptive.
Some of the best and silliest dialogue came from the Pythons...nudge nudge, wink wink, know whatahmean?

No, funniest joke is not really German. The words are German, but it makes no sense. Otherwise it would kill you. The Pythons actually did record a "Best of" for German television in German! Just as funny as the original. It is amazing how much influence the Pythons still have after nearly 40 years. Has anybody here seen John Cleese's eulogy for Graham? Check it out here!

Two guys I work with are both Python fans. Whenever one of them sees that the other one is irritated about something, he'll say, "Well, there'll be some car doors slamming in the streets of Kensington tonight!"
I hope I got that right. Anyhow, most people overhearing this have no idea what it's about and what makes it cool is that neither guy ever bothers to explain to anyone.
Oh, and an exchange I overheard between them:
M: Didn't you have any of so-and-so's birthday cake? K: Eh, just not hungry. M: But it's wafer theeen! (exagerrated French accent)

My older brother has a tendency to do that when we get togther for family events like weddings, etc...he'll look around, clap his hands together conspiratorially and say "well, we should be in for some pretty good eclipsing today!" Cracks us up every time.

I have an old VHS of many episodes I taped off of PBS(?) about 10 years ago, and am trying to convince mr. cyclone to get me the DVDs for Christmas. mr. cyclone, unfortunately, does not understand the Python love. I can't believe I live with this man.
