Susan, Carol's wife on Friends, ALWAYS made my blood boil. She was a condescending bitch and really unpleasant. She always had this bizarre ax to grind with Ross despite the fact that his wife cheated on him and subsequently left him for her. For some reason the actress' face and voice annoyed the shit out of me as well. YES. The episode about the baby's last name? Where Susan was getting pissy because Ross was upset they didn't want to include his last name??

Oh man, I hated her too. Ross was a drip but he was Ben's father and she kept actively trying to downplay his presence in his life or even cut him out of it.

I hated most of the characters on Friends. It's why I didn't care for the show actually.

They've got reruns of Mad About You on FXX now. The list of characters I loved is much shorter than the list of characters I hated. Lisa was always a hoot and I loved the snooty English neighbors, but I hated when Ira started being on all the time. He was never funny, and the episodes with Cyndi Lauper as his ex-wife were horrible. Nat the dog walker was ridiculous. I hated Jamie's parents constantly being recast, but especially when they stunt-casted Carroll O'Connor and Carol Burnett. I hated every episode that guest starred some aging Borscht-Belt comedian that Paul Reiser had an affection for.
I kind of hate the show in general, even though I loyally watched it for years.

I used to watch the show with a friend of mine in college when we were roommates. We still quote the "mee-grain" and "aspir-aye-n" lines.

Reading back through this thread, it's hilarious how often Ross/Friends comes up. I think he, Carrie Bradshaw and HoCaine are the unholy trinity.
I haven't watched it in a while, but I also have to nominate Stacy and Clinton on What Not To Wear. I am not one of those people whose first instinct is to go "the British version was better," but... Trinny and Susannah were so. much. better. The British version of WNTW was one of the shows that got me hooked on BBC America. But even without that contrast, I just find Stacy and Clinton really snide and unpleasant in a way that goes beyond "tough love" or blunt honesty about the person's fashion choices. They frequently come across as passive aggressive and contemptuous of their subjects. And, for all their snarking, their makeovers suck! You could make a drinking game out of how many times they just slap an A-line skirt on the woman and call it a day.
