I am still scarred by Jack cutting off Chase's hand in the s3 season finale. Not even the steamy T/M kiss made up for how disturbing that scene was. I just watched that for the first time yesterday, AmyLuna. Through my fingers. It was horrific. The other disturbing S3 development was Chappelle's death. Learning that you're going to die in under an hour, that the President has been forced to order your death to save millions and one of your colleagues has to do it unless some highly improbable mission is successful? Holy shit, that messed with me. All the virus stuff was disturbing, too. #nosmileys

Speaking of X-Files, I had never really understood the uproar about the classic episode "Home," with the incest and the baby-killing and all that. I think it's because when I first saw it, I was about 14 years old and was waaaaaay too focused on the Mulder/Scully ship, so I didn't really pay attention. I recently purchased the DVDs, though, and sat at home in the dark one day watching that episode...and may I say, it seriously gave me the heebie-jeebies. Now that I'm older and somewhat wiser, I really understood everything. I was freaked out for the rest of the day. Oh motherfucker, like really. I had nightmares about that crazy episode. I mean, I grew up in the country with alot of people who seemed sorta genetically challenged (shall we say) and lemme tell ya, that whole story played on primal fears. The horror of incest (Totem and Taboo). And the scene with the mother in the coffin and the broken legs, hauled off to fuck another day with her son/brother/grandchild or whatever he was to her, oh God. Keeps you up at night.

Scariest. Buffy. Ever. The wiggiest part to me was that somehow they really appeared to be floating--that effect is rarely carried off well but Team Whedon nailed it there.

Ditto "Home", that infamous X-Files ep. I grew up in Pennslyvania, where that ep was set and trust me, it wasn't that far removed from what my hometown was really like.
If anyone saw Kingpin, that short lived show 2 years ago on NBC about a drug dealer-Bobby Cannavale played the horndog brother who somehow landed in a Mexican jail-the scene where he is raped by his brother's enemies skeeved me. Also, that Matthew Shepard tv movie where they show his gang rape.

On The Sopranos--When you knew that Silvio was not driving Adriana to the hospital to see Christopher. (Cristafuh)

Yeah, The Sopranos is responsible for quite a few of my more usettling experiences with the TV. That first season episode, "Meadowlands"? With the guy Tony decides to pay one of his special visits to? Ack. Still freaked out by that.

Ack. Still freaked out by that. Yeah, the Soprano's hasn't helped me much either. However, most of my shuddering came from episodes involving Ralphie ( Joe Pantoliano -- sp?) First, there was the time he beat the pregnant stripper into steak tartare. Second, there were ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the sex scenes with Janet. I *STILL* can't figure out which disturbed me more: her using a vibrator on him from the behind, or the comment made by one of his Ex-s regarding how he loved pain so much that he liked having a cheese grater forcibly rubbed across his erect penis. (Sorry for the bluntness but I can't think of any other way of putting it.) I'm not a man but, still, that description makes me close my legs in sympathetic mental anguish and empathy. And when should I get into the who chopped up bodyparts and bowling ball head stuff? You know, in all honesty, that cheese grater comment disturbed me way more than the bowling ball head. In fact, I think I'm going to go duct tape my legs together... <shudder>

Amazingly, Kafka, you and I both neglected to mention The Scene in "Employee of the Month." That was actually the first episode of The Sopranos I ever saw. And why did I want to rediscover it after that? Why?

Since we're listing everything disturbing on the Sopranos, I could live the rest of my life never having to watch Melfi getting raped ever again.
