I must confess I don't know much about him, but he was on Letterman on Friday (I think) after Kiefer Sutherland, and it was fricking hilarious. He got into SNL (from what I gather) from short films he and his friends would make themselves. One was about how they were addicted to tooth whitener and ran out of money, so they were filming a scene where they mug an old lady to get the cash to buy more. It was in the middle of the day, and the only person that stopped to help the "old lady" was Kiefer Sutherland! It was great. Their friend that was shooting the video for them stopped taping when Kiefer ran up to help, so all that was on the tape was the back of Kiefer's head in his convertible. Suffice it to say, I now love Andy too. We'll have to check Letterman's website to see if they replay it; I think it's a must-see!
ETA: I am a little ambivalent about Scarlett Johansson, but I thought she was pretty funny this week. Maybe it's just residual from watching The Island recently. I still find it quite depressing that I'm a bit older and will never have those womanly curves. *sigh*

And some of those short videos can be found on the group's website, The Lonely Island. From what little I've read on TWoP, Lazy Sunday was basically like a Lonely Island short, as was the short film about Lettuce that I think was on the Dane Cook episode. I think ScarJo was not too great -- funny at times, but way, way too into the cue cards and having no facial expressions. Which was really troublesome in the submarine sketch - the entire skit revolves around the lack of space and you can't even make eye contact with Seth Meyers who is pressed up against your ass? (yummmm...) That skit felt like a retread of the cooking one anyways - where, oddly enough, the cue card-focus and dead expression actually worked into the cold Scandavian-ness/Ingmar Bergman parody that they were aiming for. There were also way too many singing sketches - the disco one was awful, the Duluth one I thought was merely okay until Will Forte's spoken word freak-out ala Jim Morrison made it crazy genius (his spelling bee sketch in the previous ep was hysterical too). I did absolutely love the Super Sweet 16 sketch, though, and Weekend Update was great. Rachel Dratch doing all of Mrs. Alito's facial expressions? Priceless! Funny detail that I didn't notice until the TWoP board pointed it out - in the "World's Biggest Terrorist" picture, there's a picture of the King from the Burger King commercials. You can have Andy, I'm all crushing on Jason Sudekis now...

Hee. I now have a huge crush on Andy Samberg. Does anyone know much about him? He's from Berkley and went to NYU Film school. He also did stand up around LA. Oh, and he loves a good sandwich.

Duluth, MN! (My hometown!!) They showed footage of the lift-bridge and everything. It had nothing to do with Duluth though. I guess maybe they just thought it was a funny-sounding name for a town?

I need to start watching this show again! I really want to like Will Forte because he's from my (extremely small) hometown and we even had some of the same teachers in high school. I know people don't really like his Bush (though it's better than Darrell Hammond's, it's definitely not as great as Will Ferrell's) but I got tired of waiting for him to get more screentime besides that. And now I hear he was the best thing about the show? Oh man.
