I need to confess that I love the Kristen Wiig character on the Lawrence Welk Show with the high forehead and baby doll hands. That one always made me laugh. I haven't watched SNL live in a couple of decades though, so I am always only seeing specific skits online. I don't have a sense of the whole show dragging on. ETA: I've been down a deep YouTube rabbit hole. The character's name is Dooneese and she still makes me laugh. I do too - and I love Fred as Lawrence Welk. Even Target lady has grown on me. I also like her Penelope because I know real people like her and Kristen does a great job of making her larger than life but also realistic. And of course there is always The Assholes, which never not makes me laugh.

This sketch from last night is pretty spot-on: link

Last night’s SNL was pretty good start to finish. Rami Malek, not a huge fave of mine, did a very good job. And I have to say, Bowen Yang has been a standout so far this season.

I laughed A LOT at last night's episode. The Prince-off, Daddy Long-legs, Pete and Rami trading places, and Bowen's Oompa-Loompa on Weekend Update. And Daniel Craig's casual cameos. All in all, a very solid episode. And next week has my goddess Brandi Carlile as musical guest!

I really like Rami as an actor, but you never know how someone is going to do hosting SNL. I thought he was a great host--he seemed game for anything and looked like he was having a blast. I laughed out loud a lot during this episode. The "Squid Game" country music video cracked me up ("I'm confused by the currency"), the Prince-off was great, and the mattress store skit was so over-the-top and funny. A couple of the cut-for-time bits ( "Brutal Marriage Movie" and "Rami Wants a Treat") were really good, too.

Those were good skits, particularly the last one.

Ryan Gosling was on last Saturday; Emily Blunt showed up in the monologue (they're promoting The Fall Guy).
I rarely watch SNL, so I didn't know half the cast, but I liked it, and Chris Stapleton was an excellent musical guest.
I know some people don't like it when they break during scenes, but it happened several times (he almost lost it during the first skit with Kate McKinnon) and Heidi Gardner completely lost it during the skit about News Nation channel. Gosling also barely made it through the Erin Brockovich skit.

Not to discount the talent involved, but why is there a channel on Pluto devoted to reruns of Carol Burnett? Because Tim Conway cracking Harvey Korman up is often funnier than the actual sketch. Laughter is contagious. It is the seed of the laugh track back in the day.
The Beavis and Butthead sketch was magical. I saw a comment on Twatter that said they were waiting for a cameo from Daria (should have been the woman behind the two of them at the end).

Oh jeez, that Beavis and Butt-head sketch. I've re-watched it maybe a dozen times since the show, and it still makes me teary-eyed in laughter. I don't fault Heidi at all for corpsing.

A Daria cameo would have been great. The breaks in character were funny and I hope for another appearance. The "Weekend Update" joke swap was soooo funny! Here's the hilarity!
