I had no reaction to the first song. The second one, I really liked the groove they set up in the verses, but the chorus was just...meh.

The Foo Fighters reminded me of how old I am. It was 25 years ago that I had to force my parents on our summer vacation to take me to the store so I could buy their first album on cassette....25 years ago that I had to get my big brother to take me to see them at the Black Cat when it was just the drummer from Nirvana and his side project. I never thought they would become one of America's biggest rock bands, and they'd be singing their classic hits on SNL to comfort the nation after an election.

I just watched (1/2 of the show because my TiVo missed the second half) the show last night, and just now made the Macho Man/Hallelujah connection. Well played SNL.
My recording cut out after the Mario sketch, I'll have to find it elsewhere.

Michael Che was clearly buzzed during Weekend Update, which was far more amusing to me than anything Dave Chappelle did. I thought Dave Chappelle seemed high as a kite during his monologue. It was definitely not on par with his 2016 monologue and given the very small number of skits he was in, I wonder if the show really wanted a bookend experience to have him host again just after the election and he wasn't totally into it. I was shocked to see a musical act that I actually recognized, that has been a very infrequent experience in the last few years.

Loved the end of Chappelle's monologue.

I loved the Jason Bateman episode, it was my favorite episode this season (that I can remember anyway). I made the mistake of looking at PreviouslyTv and everyone seemed to hate it. I laughed at nearly every sketch and the Santa-themed parody of Stan was fantastic.

The faux commercial about telling parents you’re not coming home for Christmas was wonderful. Started out really funny but at the end when they all said they loved each other, I actually teared up.

I loved the Jason Bateman episode, it was my favorite episode this season (that I can remember anyway). I made the mistake of looking at PreviouslyTv and everyone seemed to hate it. I laughed at nearly every sketch and the Santa-themed parody of Stan was fantastic. I didn't realize PreviouslyTV still existed. I loved the Jason Bateman episode- esp. the Stan/Stu skit. Plus the musical guest (who's name I can't remember) poking fun at his own screw up a couple months ago. But so far I think the Adele episode has been the best of the season. That's the one I enjoyed the most throughout at least. How come Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman are still just "featured" players?

It usually takes two years as a Featured Player to get promoted to the main cast and Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman were just hired last season.
The only time in recent memory when SNL deviated from that was 2006, when Hader, Wiig, Sudeikis and Samberg were all promoted after their first year.
But that was an unusual year - 5 main cast members left and SNL was not given the budget to hire anyone new, so it was a very small cast and all four of them were badly needed as repertory players.

My husband laughed so hard at the Lexus December to Remember skit, if you would like to know what his sense of humor is. :-)
