My boyfriend and I tuned in for the first time in ages last night.
It is the worst ever.
I have never seen SNL suck so badly, and it has sucked a lot. When did it get so low?

I don't know exactly, but I have noticed that the times I have watched it this season it's been very uneven and one problem has been too many musical/ singing numbers. I think when Eva Longoria hosted there were 4 or 5 singing skits and I know Scarlett was on last night and the monologue involved singing. It's a fallback.

SNL is riding on fumes, and has been for years...I've started watching MAD tv as an alternative, it's still a young enough show that the majority of the skits work very well.

SNL can't fill 90 minutes (or 85, whatever) with good comedy. It's very rare you see anything remotely entertaining in the last 20 or 30 minutes. NBC needs to scale it back to an hour. Mad TV only goes for an hour, and usually their last sketch is an encore of a good sketch from a previous show. SNL could try that. Anything other than airing crap sketches.

I thought Al's bit was amusing. Julia did a good job and the bit with Jason Alexander was funny, but for some reason the little bit with Jerry seemed flat. The MySpace and Charades skits were funny.

I thought Al Gore was great! I didn't see SNL till I got up Sunday AM, but Mr. R warned me by saying, "Boy, somebody on there is doing a great impression of Al Gore!" I knew as soon as I started watching that it was him, so droll and calm. I love it when celebs can make fun of themselves. The MySpace skit was also very good, timely too since To Catch A Predator is on every week. Thought those 2 parts of the program were a good reminder of what SNL used to be able to do. The younger members of this board would never know how great SNL was, from the past few years (or decade?). Such a shame how it has fallen.
Also enjoyed the cameos by Jason Alexander and Jerry Seinfeld. And JLD looks good, she is in her mid-late 40s, right?

First of all, I stopped regularly watching SNL during the rise of Jimmy Fallon (talentless hack..). When I heard that SNL had a really popular skit called "Lazy Sunday" I had to download it. If that is what passes for a funny skit, I'd hate to see a bad one.
What??? I love Adam Brody. I must see this. Damn you, SNL!

Why did they ban Adrien Brody? Isn't Martin Lawrence banned too?

Adrien Brody was banned because he did a little improv reggae routine when he was introducing the musical guest, I beleive it was John Paul. Supposedly Lorne Michaels is a control freak who hates improv so ergo Brody was banned.
Martin Lawrence was banned because his monologue was disgusting and incredibly mysogynistic.
