During the third season of ER, Drs. Benton and Carter paging a missing intern named Gant because they're in the middle of trying to resuscitate a man mauled beyond recognition by a subway train...and hearing the beeper on the belt of their patient go off. The scene from last season where the guy's eye popped out of its socket caught me completely off guard.

For me nothing can ever top rounds 1 and 2 of Dr. Romano vs. a Helicopter on ER. I'd never shouted such a long string of expletives in my life. Particularly round 2.

Good Lord, I had forgotten about the Romano thing on E.R. That was craziness! I also agree with whoever mentioned the plane crashing into the WTC. At the time, I didn't realize how serious it was, but now when I see it (rarely, these days), I get chills up and down, and very few things do that to me.

This is really a shocking sports moment, I guess, but I finally saw the footage from Monday Night Football where Joe Theisman's leg was broken in a tackle (I think I saw it on "I Love the 80s 3-D," but I can't remember...I know it was on Vh1), and...dude. Sure, I'm probably the last person in the world to finally see it, but still. OUCH.

Budd Dwyer fellating a pistol on live television with horrific results in the late 1980s. On Canadian TV recaps they froze the picture from the moment he put the gun in his mouth, but let the audio continue and believe me, that was absolutely dreadful to listen to. I've never had any desire whatsoever to see the video ...

WHAT? That sounds horrific. I've never heard about this or him. Could you give a little more background on that for us non-Canadians?

Budd Dwyer was the state treasurer of Pennsylvania from 1980 until 1987 when he killed himself, and a congressman from 1965-1980. In 1986, he was accused of having accepted bribes. I had never heard of him myself until a couple of years ago.

9/11--Seeing one of the towers lurch to the side and then go down was just too shocking for words. And then seeing the gigantic dust cloud blow up the avenue and all those people running and diving under parked cars to escape was just...whew!
