A friend called during the show, so the only part I did get to see was Arrested Development, and I thought they were pretty good.
I did notice that not all the members of Loverboy and A Flock of Seagulls were there. Was there an explanation for this? Were the other members really that busy to miss this show?
I also thought that we, the TV audience, would get to vote, so that was a little disappointing. Still, it was interesting to see what they look like now.
I, also, thought Tiffany looked pregnanct, and so did the lead singer of A Flock of Seagulls.
Go Motels!!

I was at a music festival last night and Glass Tiger was playing. They announced that they will be on the show at the end of July. They were great last night, nobody's insanely overweight and everyone seemed to be aging quite well. Alan Frew was awesome. I think they'll do well on the show.

What is the setup? HOw does it work? Well from the previews you are lead to believe that the bands compete and the winner gets some kind of career boost out of it. That was what the British version was about. The winner got a single released after they won (dude names Shakin' Stevens won) I guess NBC or America in general don't want any of these people to come back, hence the donating money to charity thing. I just got done reading the thread for this show over at TWoP and it seems like there are some people there that aren't understanding the concept of the show. The whole point of this show is for the artists to sing their biggest hit, yet some people are saying that [insert artist here] should sing [this song] rather than [that song] when [that song] would be sung because that was their biggest hit.

It was a little sad seeing how badly A Flock of Seagulls has aged. I remember how glam and space-age they were in the 80s, even though the lead singer was consistently voted as having the worst hairdo in rock n' roll. I can only hope this show continues and years later performers like Britney Spears and Ashlee Simpson get to go up onstage and play the fading star, not-relevant-anymore card. With big blowup pics of them in their former glory to compare with their more homely present images.
The most interesting part was seeing what the stars are doing now after their moment of fame was up. They showed a vignette of Tommy Tutone (867-9309) designing GUI interfaces for a software sompany. I thought that was neat.

Batguy wanted to watch this and he was especially looking forward to Arrested Development. So what happens as they begin performing their hit? The station breaks in with a Tsunami warning for the west coast. Well that sucks, but they'll perform again. So they come out again and... two notes in, the station breaks in again to tell us that nope, it's okay. No more tsunami warning. And back to hear the last three notes of their performance.
And the Flock of Seagulls Guy got biiiiiig. He didn't look like the kind of guy who'd get big. Dude from Loverboy looked like he'd be the kind of guy who'd get puffy, but not bad hair boy. And Vanilla Ice looks exactly the same.

I'm surprised you didn't mention any thing about those big humugous teeth of his. I keep thinking Austin Powers.

I really wanted Wang Chung to win last nite. I thought they sounded just as good as they did in the 80's. Not sure why Irene Cara was allowed to sing with her "group" that one singer actually did more singing than a backup singer would have. Felt it was a wee little bit of cheating.
Mr. Hapagirl said the audience was on crack, they cheered everything. I don't remember being that excited about 80's music evah. And Cameo dude's codpiece, too funny, the matching flame hat was the best.
Announcer guy is terrible, I had to hee! when Irene Cara made fun of him.

I would have picked Wang Chung too.
Sophie B. seemed kind of wacked out to me.
