The guy who killed himself was the one Aaron called 'Thin Guy' in the TWoP recaps, right? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I do not remember the guy that killed himself at all, but then again I barely recognized the first informant who keeled over in the car. Was he the one that flipped and turned in Johnny Sack and all of NY? That was Patsy Parisi, one of Tony's long-time associates. Actually, the first informant who died in the car with Agent San Severino was Ray Curto. The one who flipped on Johnny Sack was Jimmy Petrile. Pasty Parisi is still (as far as we know) loyal to Tony, but considering Tony had Patsy's twin brother Philly killed in Season 1, it's always possible that Patsy might someday be persuaded to become an informant. eta: Gah! I hate Carmela.

I thought that was Patsy...damn, I need to watch the DVDs to catch up on everyone. It really has been a long time!

Before this season started HBO was airing all the shows from the beginning on one of their additional networks. Like HBO East, maybe they will start doing that again if you don't own the DVD's or want to rent them.

Oh I'm going to have to check that out. Two years since last season...the brain, it goes soft.

I'll be the lone voice and say that I was underwhelmed by this episode. Until the end that is. I was also irritated at being cheated out of a full hour by the crappy Party scenes hogwash, flashbacks and beginning. A good 8 minutes was cut out, which is fine for regular TV but not for HBO, especially given the almost 2 yr wait.
I figure that they're setting up the groundwork in this episode for future ones and that's fine but past season premieres were better, imo.
I see Carmela is still a smug, money-obsessed B**** with a superiority complex. What a surprise... And still shrieking, vile harpy too. Her voice in the scene with her father would have shattered glass. Someone should record it and play it in the caves of Afghanistan because Bin Laden would come out crying and begging for mercy.
Hate her. Hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Everything about her makes me want to stick an icepick into my ear and then claw her eyes out.

Now I feel like dork for rewatching the end of S3 through S5 on HBO2 and On Demand as a refresher. I assumed everyone else was really obsessed with the show too, then I go to TWoP and half the people have no idea who Eugene Pontecorvo was. Granted, I confused him with Little Paulie for a long time too. Many of the secondary guys look alike and have similar wardrobes. I think Ray Curto looked like Carmine Sr.
The premiere was good, but it will take a few eps to get back into the swing of things. There was alot of exposition and catching up.

satellite, don't feel like a dork about the On Demand referesher. Lots of us had to catch up with the DVDs or On Demand. It's been two years since the force of "Long Term Parking" hit me in the guts, so I made a point of watching everything to get the wheels greased, too. Screw TWoP, all they want to do is snark on Seventh Heaven (not that that's a bad thing, but the shows seem more network-based than cable-based).
Anyhoo, I didn't like Ginny Sack's hair either, but I still like her. And I like Johnny Sack because he loves his wife so much, although I would have loved to see him be permitted to get medieval on Ralph C for the mole comment--shit, what was that, Season Three? The time, she flies.

Satellite, my husband kept swearing that was Carmine on the treadmill at the beginning and that he was just back in a dream, then he finally had to admit that it wasn't once the funeral scene began.
Carmella's father looks awful, I started to wonder if he'd die before the episode was over. I thought her shrillness was going to kill him at the construction site.
